I installed texlive2020 as early as two years ago, and I always get an error when I try it again recently, which seems to be because the version is too low. I found a time to update the texlive version, the whole process is as follows.
1. Uninstall the old version of texlive
1) Find the texlive directory, for example, mine is D:\texlive\2022\tlpkg\installer, double-click uninst.bat, and the uninstallation is successful after a while, and 7 G of space is successfully released on the D drive.
2) Check the registry: Press Win+R to open the "Run" window, enter regedit
, and find the path: Computer\HKEY_USERS\<your user ID>\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\TeXLive2020. If the item exists, right-click to delete it, otherwise no operation is required.
2. Download the latest version of texlive2023
1) Under this URL, select texlive2023-20230313.iso, 4.8G in size, and it will take several minutes to download.

2) The file is relatively large. I don’t want to have any problems, so I just checked the md5 value. In the texlive2023-20230313.iso.md5 file: 787f087e71695eebd1caafdb2b286060 texlive2023-20230313.iso
The md5 value is checked correctly. (As an aside, when running shell commands on Windows, I am more accustomed to using Git Bash , which is installed when installing Git. Those who are interested can learn this software, it is very useful!)
3. Install texlive2023
1) For the downloaded texlive2023-20230313.iso, right-click and select "Open with", select "Windows Explorer", a window will pop up, and click "Open":
2) Right-click the "install-tl-windows.bat" file and select "Run as administrator". My C drive has not enough space, so I still choose the D drive, so do the following:
Because the interface operating software TeXworks that comes with texlive is not easy to use, many people uncheck this option. The more popular editors include Visual Studio Code, Sublime Text, TeXstudio, WinEdt on Windows, and macOS TeXpad, etc. TeXstudio is a cross-platform free software specially designed for editing .tex . For example, I use TeXstudio interface operation software (this software is very small). 4) Click "Install":
The installation process may take half an hour to an hour. During the waiting time, you can install the front-end software. See point 4 below for details.
5) "Welcome to the world of TeX Live" is displayed, indicating that the installation is successful, click "Close".
4. TeXstudio installation
1) My Texstudio software happened to be outdated, so I reinstalled it. First, I uninstalled TeXstudio in the "Control Panel", and then visited the following URL:

Click in. For windows, just select the following:
2) After the download is successful, double-click to run the exe and click "Next":
3) I habitually change the root directory of the default installation path from drive C to drive D, and then click to install:
4) The installation is completed.
