IDM (Internet Download Manager) downloader is compatible and supports multiple browsers for file downloading. In many cases, just copy an address and the IDM download pop-up window will pop up automatically. Sometimes it will pop up when there is no need to download. After a long time, the IDM download pop-up window will pop up automatically. It may feel annoying, but this question is actually ok.
1. Cancel automatic file downloading
If you do not want IDM to automatically take over all download tasks in the browser, you can turn off the browser/system integration in "Options-General". You only need to uncheck the option in the red box as shown in Figure 1.

2. Forced call/forced pause to call IDM to download files
After installing IDM, when downloading a file, you can press and hold a specific shortcut key while clicking the download link to force the call or force pause to call the software. This specific shortcut key can be used in "Options-General-Shortcut Keys". set up.

As shown in the red box in Figure 2, you can set the shortcut keys to pause the call or force the call. The Insert key option is a valid setting for most browsers.
3. Add server login information
In some servers, you need to fill in the login information when downloading files, and you need to fill it in repeatedly for multiple downloads. In order to avoid this complicated operation, you can set it in the "Options-Site Management" of IDM.

Click New in the site management box, as shown in Figure 3. You can add the relevant server and login information to the site login list, so you don't have to fill in the login information repeatedly for future download operations.
4. Change the file extension list
When the file type you download already exists in the supported file type/extension list, then IDM will be automatically called to download the file. If you want to avoid this situation, you can expand it through "Options-File Type" Changes to the name list.

As shown in Figure 4, in addition to changing the file type, you can also edit the "Do not automatically start downloading" sites and download address lists.
