[Practical Tool] Compact KML file generation tool

KML can be used to draw points, lines, and polygons and share this information with others.

You can also use KML to specify text, pictures, movies, or links to other GIS services that appear after the user clicks on the feature.

Many KML client applications are free and provide a familiar, user-friendly navigation experience.

Nowadays, many GIS software can generate KML files, such as ArcGIS and Global Mapper. Of course, our micro-maps also support the import and export of KML files.

Compared with the KML Generator to be recommended today, Micrograph not only supports the generation of KML files, but also supports the export of KML files to SHP, DXF, TAB and other formats. It also supports the conversion of coordinate systems, and has richer functions.

Introduction to KML files

KML, the full name of Keyhole Markup Language, is a markup language based on the XML (Extensible Markup Language, Extensible Markup Language) syntax standard. It adopts a markup structure and contains nested elements and attributes.

Developed and maintained by Keyhole, a company owned by Google, it is used to express geographical tags.

Files written according to the KML language are KML files. The format also uses the XML file format, which is used in Google Earth-related software (Google Earth, Google Map, Google Maps for mobile, etc.) and is used to display geographical data (including points, lines, etc.) , faces, polygons, polyhedrons and models, etc.).

Now many GIS-related companies have followed Google and begun to use this format to exchange geographic data.

Special Note

When using it, try to copy your own data into the "Excel Table Sample.xls" table to replace the original data, otherwise an error may be reported.

Longitude and latitude must be numbers, not text. If they are text, an error will be reported.

The name of each column can be modified according to your own requirements, but it is recommended to retain the original name in the example.

The table only needs four columns in total, namely longitude, latitude, label title and location description.

The order of each column in the table is recommended to be arranged according to the sample. In the end, the software will generate the corresponding points in the longitude and latitude columns, generate the names of the corresponding label points based on the label title column, and generate detailed information in the bubbles based on the location description.
