I always thought that with more experience, I could find a satisfactory job no matter where I was, but the reality gave me a big slap in the face! The kind that won't give you candy afterwards...
Personal situation
Let me briefly introduce my personal situation. Male, undergraduate, with more than three years of testing work experience. After graduation, I worked in outsourcing for 2 years due to immature experience and repeated restrictions on academic qualifications. I have been engaged in functional testing and know the importance of automated testing, but Unfortunately, I have been living a comfortable life. I have wanted to improve myself many times, but there is no good platform to improve myself! But seeing the people around me succeed one by one, I am not willing to lag behind!
After thinking deeply, I am still ready to improve myself.
By chance, I got initially exposed to automated testing, and also learned basic skills such as Jenkins operation and Linux command line.
Either you are learning, or you are on the way to learning. Later, you try to get in touch with some codes and some frameworks, and integrate the knowledge you have learned into your own projects. Put together a testing framework for your own project to learn selenium, website architecture, code knowledge, knowledge, network bottlenecks, system optimization, optimization scripts, design scenarios, obtain target user volume, execute, and analyze stress results.
I started preparing my resume on November 15, 2021, and started applying on November 18, 2021. At first, I only applied for some positions that had been officially launched for a long time. I did not receive an interview invitation, and all I got was unmatched feedback.
I once wondered if my resume was not well written, but later I sent out resumes in large quantities, and indeed received several interview invitations. The salaries were all around 8K. Most fresh graduates can get 15K, right? I feel very uncomfortable, what is going on now, the phenomenon of salary inversion is too obvious!
I will also list the most frequently asked questions in interviews:
- What is a system bottleneck?
- What is concurrency? How to conduct concurrent testing in lordrunner? What happens if the rendezvous point fails?
- In your past work, what did a software defect (or bug) record contain? How to submit high-quality software defect (bug) records?
- What are the criteria for ending the test?
- Could you please answer what indicators are included in the performance test? What indicators are there when performing a performance test on a login function? How do you measure the maximum number of requests that can be processed simultaneously?
- How to answer How to test the login function?
- What are the characteristics of the orthogonal table test case design method?
- What are the precautions for requirements testing?
- What is the difference between one client with 300 clients and 300 clients with 300 clients putting pressure on the server?
Due to the large influx of these unqualified testers who consider themselves excellent into the market, most companies have to lower their expectations. However, the truly capable testers are basically not affected, and it is still easy to change jobs. If you are not satisfied with your current job and do not have enough experience, you might as well calm down and study for a while.
In order to help you improve your interview pass rate, I would like to share some information here today.
