Wowza has been released for more than ten years, and there are many users in China, but because American companies have not set up offices and branches in China, and there is no Chinese customer service in their home countries, many users like me Can not get timely technical support and help. At any time, the business use is getting deeper and deeper, and I found that I have encountered many difficult problems, so I decided to start a domestic user self-help group, I hope everyone will actively contribute their wisdom and experience, support and help each other, let us use this software for real .
Without localization support, the following requirements we encountered were difficult to achieve, such as:
- Integration with other application systems is difficult to achieve without official technical support;
- As the number of users increases, distributed deployment, large-scale expansion, and disaster recovery backup are difficult to achieve;
- New functional requirements cannot be added to the existing system, such as supporting H.265 media streams, supporting transparent transmission of TS streams, automatic transcoding and automatic storage of on-demand content, etc.;
- The product performance problem cannot be improved. When the number of concurrent users exceeds 500, or the program stream exceeds 6Mb/s, the playback end will not be able to decode normally. I have tried hard to use Google to translate and send an email to the official, but it still cannot be resolved;
- There is a big problem with the garbage collection (GC) of the Java virtual machine. After the memory is occupied, it cannot be effectively released, which makes wowza very unstable, and the official has not given timely technical support and solutions;
- Adding functions according to the actual usage scenarios on the existing basis, the official support is very poor, just telling you to write the program yourself to add modules, how many people can handle such a complicated thing as designing the program?
There are many, many more, these are the difficulties that we cannot overcome. From this, I found that Wowza is indeed not a large international company. We have to find a way to solve the problems we encounter.
