A new approach and international support

“We adjusted the way we went straight to an entity that could sign off and operate, now we’re bringing in the whole government from the beginning so everyone is on the same page and all the paperwork is on the table In front of the people who are going to implement this project, everyone knows about it," Weiner mentioned.
"Since we seized the opportunity to realign, we've had some support from the U.S. State Department, who have helped us find the right business partners at home. Weiner noted that the goals of VXPASS align not only with those of the Lesotho government and the country’s private sector, but also with the directives of the World Health Organization and the World Bank, which are critical to digitizing vaccine records and allowing citizens to retain ownership of their medical data. "The approach we're taking now is to create a project team made up of interested parties who have a vested interest in the success of the program. Weiner also highlighted that an important aspect of the way VXPASS provides COVID-19 vaccine surveillance and digitization in Lesotho is their commitment to continue providing services in the country and reinvesting in the local economy .
“You know, in these less developed parts of the world, Westerners would come in with a brand new technology that they say works in the West, try to implement it here, and then suddenly completely disappear, and the locals get used to it.
