No matter how far you go, don't forget the original intention when you set off
C/C++ game development
Hello, Mina-san, this is Jun Xi_, before we officially start talking about the main line knowledge, let's talk about something interesting and useful.
I know that in addition to many people who want to work in the game development industry, there are more people who learn Unity because of hobbies and want to make their favorite characters "live" in their own hands, so today I bring an article about How to import the character model into Unity's nanny-level tutorial
How to import character models into Unity
1. About the download of the model
- In fact, many large game companies will make their own models public for everyone to create secondary creations. This not only meets the needs of players, but also brings popularity to the character with various secondary creations, so many characters Models can be found on the game's official website.
- But it is very inconvenient to search for different games on different websites. Below I will provide you with a website that contains various character models.
- In addition to many officially provided models, there are also players' own second creations. It can be said that the models inside can meet most of your needs (but note that the copyright belongs to the provider, and you must abide by the usage rules when using the models)
- Let me take the character Gan Yu in Yuanshen as an example to demonstrate how to import the model
2. Download and import the model
1. Download the model
- Search the website for the name of the character model you want to import and select the character model you want to import
- Before you start, you can preview to see if it is the character model you want to import
- After selecting, click the download model in the lower right corner
- After downloading, unzip it, and we will complete the step of downloading the model
- Here I will show you the rules of use. If there is any illegal use, you will be responsible for the consequences!
2. Modify the model file format
-
The downloaded model file is in pmx format, which does not meet our requirements, so we need to convert the model format before importing it into Unity
-
The software recommended by the blogger here is blender. It should be noted here that it is best not to download the latest version. There are many rendering software in the new version that have not yet been adapted. It is very inconvenient for you to create a second Blender official website
. -
First of all, before we start, we need to download a plug-in that can import the pmx character model. The link is as follows:
github link of the necessary plug-in -
Download the compressed file, note that you do not need to decompress it after downloading
-
After downloading, we open our blender and click on the preferences in the editor
-
Click Install in the plugin, find the compressed package of the plugin we just downloaded, and click Install Plugin
- After all are enabled, the plug-in is installed and the model is imported
- Find the Model interface of our installed plug-in in the right interface, click Import to import the character model
- If the character model you downloaded appears in blender, it is considered successful. At this time, the texture of our model has not been imported into the model. Click Fix Model on the right
-
Wait for a while, when the character model is finished with textures, you can click here on the right
-
Select a folder to export the fbx file
-
We have also converted the format of the model, and now we import the model into Unity
3. Import into Unity
-
Open Unity to create a 3D template (ordinary ones are fine here, because I need to render later, I choose the URP template)
-
Create a new folder so we can import the model
-
Find the folder where the character model is saved in fbx format, and drag all the files inside to the newly created folder
-
Drag the character model in the folder to the scene
-
Did you find that the character model dragged in is different from what you imagined? Don’t worry, I’ll take you to render and adjust it
4. Optimization of the two-dimensional rendering of the model
-
Here we also need to use a rendering plugin. Link here for
the 2D URP shader plugin -
After downloading and decompressing, we proceed to the next step.
Click the fbx file, find the extracted material in the picture, and create a folder to store the extracted material.
-
Create a new folder and drag in the file we just unzipped
-
Select all the materials we just extracted, and select this item in the Shader as shown in the figure
-
Find the material of the face, check the option as shown in the figure
-
The final effect is as shown in the picture, how is it, are you satisfied? Next, let's "live" your favorite characters in your own way!
