Amazon cloud technology AWS Snow Family series devices are used to cost-effectively migrate data to the cloud and process it at the edge. The enhanced Snowball Edge storage-optimized appliance is designed for petabyte-scale data migration projects, featuring 210TB of NVMe storage and can transfer up to 1.5 gigabytes of data per second. The devices also include multiple connectivity options such as 10GBASE-T, SFP48 and QSFP28.

To make the migration as smooth and efficient as possible, Amazon Cloud Technologies has a well-defined plan for large data migrations. As part of the program, Amazon Cloud Technologies will work with users to ensure sites can support fast data transfers and prepare for proof-of-concept migrations. Amazon Cloud Technology will also recommend the services and solutions provided by migration capability partners when necessary.

Although appliances can be ordered and managed individually, using a large data migration plan saves time and reduces complexity. Below is the process for creating this plan.
1. Open the AWS Snow Family console and click "Create your large data migration plan":
2. Enter the name of my migration plan (MediaMigrationPlan), then select or enter the shipping address of my data center:
3. Specify the amount of data you plan to migrate and the number of devices you want to use at the same time (considering space, power, bandwidth and logistics in the data center):
4. After everything is normal, click "Create Data Migration Plan" to continue. At this time, my plan will take effect:
5. Can look at the "Monitoring" section of the plan to see the progress of the migration (these are just Amazon CloudWatch metrics that I can add to my dashboard, set alarms, etc.):
6. The "Jobs" section includes a "Recommended job sequencing plan" which takes into account the maximum number of concurrent devices:
7. When you are ready to start transferring data, access the Sequenced Tasks tab and create a Snow task:
8. When the devices arrive, connect them to my network, copy the data to those devices via S3 (read Manage Amazon Web Storage) or NFS (read Manage File Storage with NFS File Shares) , and return it to Amazon Cloud technology for extraction!
