Lecture 2: The production method and steps of the network cable

      In recent years, the network cables required for the "Network Construction and Application" professional skills competition have to be made by participating students, so today I will talk about the production methods and steps of network cables.

      Required raw materials: twisted pair RJ45 crystal head

      Before making the network cable, let's first understand the connection method of the twisted pair:

  There are two connection methods of twisted pair: straight-through connection and cross connection.

  The straight-through connection is to press both ends of the twisted pair into the RJ45 crystal head in the order of white orange, orange, white green, blue, white blue, green, white brown, and brown (this is the international EIA/TIA 568B standard). Inside. The network cable made in this way is called straight-through cable.

Cross connection is to press one end of the twisted pair into the RJ45 crystal head according to the international standard EIA/TIA 568B standard; the other end of the core wire is sequentially pressed into white green, green, white orange, blue, white blue, orange, white brown, brown The sequence (this is the international EIA/TIA 568A standard) is pressed into the RJ45 crystal head. The network cable made in this way is called a crossover cable.

  Illustration of the method of making the network cable:

  1. We prepare the required materials first. Take a twisted-pair cable of appropriate length; several RJ45 crystal plugs; a pair of twisted-pair crimping pliers; and a twisted-pair tester.

  2. Use wire crimping pliers to peel off the outer sheath of one end of the twisted pair by 3 cm, and then straighten and close the wire cores according to the EIA/TIA 568B standard sequence.

   3. Put the core wires on the cutting knife of the wire crimping pliers. The 8 cores should be put together on the same plane and as straight as possible, leaving a certain core length of about 1.5CM and cutting them neatly.

   4. Insert the twisted pair into the RJ45 crystal plug, and balance the strength during the insertion process until it reaches the end. And check whether the 8 wire cores are fully and neatly arranged in the crystal head.

 5. Press the crystal head tightly with crimping pliers and pull it out.

  6. The network cable at one end is ready, and the other end of the network cable is made in the same way. Finally, insert the two ends of the network cable into the twisted pair tester, turn on the switch of the tester and the test indicator lights up. If the network cable is normal, the indicator lights of the two rows are on synchronously. If this light is not on synchronously, it proves that there is a problem with the connection of the core, and it should be remade.

   7. In addition, it is necessary to follow the EIA/TIA 568A standard. The same method is just that the order of the wire cores is different.

  8. The detail standard of the crimping line; the core of the twisted pair is completely in contact with the crystal head, and the crystal head is stuck on the outer skin of the twisted pair. In this way, an excellent network cable is completed.

Note: When cutting the wire core, if the part of the parallel wire core is too long, the mutual interference between the core wires will increase, which will affect the communication efficiency; if it is too short, the metal piece of the crystal head cannot fully touch the core wire, which may easily lead to contact bad.

Special attention: At present, all the equipment connections used in the "Network Construction and Application" professional skills competition use T568B standard straight-through cables, so everyone should focus on practicing T568B standard straight-through cables.
