New Phone Detective | Huawei made another effort to roll out what may be the strongest mobile phone screen so far

Huawei's recent press conferences can be regarded as bewildering. The P60, Mate X3, and brand new watches and notebooks are more stunning than the last. But speaking of what impresses the editor the most, it is the screen color rendering technology that is quietly "rolled up" to restore the "true face" of colors for you.

Let me add a little knowledge for you first. CIE is the International Commission on Illumination, a standard organization that defines color metrics. In order to optimize the problem of metamerism, CIE has successively launched CIE1931, CIE1964, CIE 170-1 (CIE2006), CIE 170-2 ( 2015) and other standard upgrade versions. Display, printing, printing and dyeing, lighting and other professional fields, as well as various spectrometers and color calibration instruments used in color measurement, follow these standards. For our consumers, the direct experience is the perception of the color displayed on the screen. Because the light-emitting technologies used by various manufacturers and mobile phone screens are different, when displaying the same screen color, the emitted spectrum is different, so our visual perception color will vary. In the mobile phone industry, currently only Huawei has introduced the latest 2015 CIE170-2 standard, which adopts a 10-degree observer angle of view, and performs color correction on each panel in the production line. It is much higher than the peers who use the traditional CIE1931 old standard to calibrate the color with a 2-degree observer's perspective. Especially in printing, printing and dyeing, lighting and other industries, the problem of metamerism is attached great importance. Huawei mobile phones, tablets, and Matebooks that have adopted metamerism color correction have achieved better color consistency.

Thanks to the unprecedented color reproduction capability and accuracy of Huawei's screen, we can experience the visual experience of "seeing is believing". For example, designers and content producers can debug masterpieces with peace of mind when retouching pictures and video grading, without worrying about color deviations; when watching blockbuster movies, they can experience the original tone and color; display design works and product real shots When taking photos, it can also present the best results; when shopping online, you can see a more realistic and close-to-kind "seller show", so you can rest assured to choose what you love. From the current point of view, Huawei's color rendering technology is already at the flagship benchmark level. There is nothing to say about the fluency and look and feel. It is a textbook-like "you can't go back after using it". Accurate and P3 wireless projection screen color accuracy, not everyone can get it. The viewing experience under this screen is really subtle. The ultra-clear picture and full colors leave a strong sense of presence. But in this way, it still can't meet Huawei's requirements for screen color rendering. Huawei has also given the optimal solution to the core pain point of the color experience on different devices, that is, "multiple screens with the same color". Optimized for the color difference in visual perception of users on different screens. Unified adopts the new 2015 CIE170-2 10° international standard color calibration that is superior to the industry standard, and performs metamerism color calibration for each display panel in the production line, solving the problem from the root of color consistency. As shown in the figure, the P3 color gamut is 26.7% higher than that of the sRGB color gamut. In simple terms, it is to ensure that when you use a device such as a mobile phone or a smart screen that supports the P3 color gamut to initiate wireless screen projection, the phone terminal and the screen projection The color display of the end is uniform. Using Huawei's self-developed Cast+ projection protocol, the P3 color gamut is used to display on the receiving end, so that the color seen by the mobile phone is consistent with the color on the receiving end of the projection screen. Accurately restore the brighter P3 wide color gamut colors on the phone to other screens that support the P3 color gamut. Just as high-frequency PWM dimming leads the world in the P50 series, P3 wireless projection screen leads the world again. By the way , most Android manufacturers are almost "crazily" promoting accurate color, and some manufacturers even officially announce that their color accuracy can reach dE ≈ 0.28. Objectively speaking, it is indeed possible for a single sample, but for mass-produced models that our consumers can really use, it is impractical for every unit to meet this standard. Huawei's official announcement that the average dE<1 is from the perspective of big data is an objective explanation of the quality control of the factory.

Multi-screen same color, unified color. Huawei devices have done a lot of work both inside and outside the screen, which gave birth to the excellent experience of "clear shooting, accurate viewing, and comfortable use".
