DES (Data Encryption Standard) is a symmetric encryption algorithm. The so-called symmetric encryption means that both encryption and decryption use the same key .

Encryption principle:

DES uses a 56-bit key with 8 additional parity bits, resulting in a maximum block size of 64 bits. This is an iterative block cipher that uses the Feistel technique to divide the encrypted text block in half, implements the subkey to apply a loop function to one half, and then performs an "exclusive OR" operation on the output with the other half; then swaps the The process continues for the two halves, but the last cycle is not swapped. DES uses 16 cycles and four basic operations of XOR, permutation, substitution, and shift operations.

However, DES can be cracked, so it is recommended to use an asymmetric encryption algorithm for data with a particularly high level of confidentiality.
