ChatGPT for Android will be live next week, pre-registration is now open

Two months after launching the iOS version , OpenAI officials announced that its Android app is expected to be available to users next week.

"Announcing ChatGPT for Android! The app will be rolling out to users next week, and you can pre-order it on the Google Play Store starting today."

Statistics show that ChatGPT’s official iOS app has been downloaded more than 500,000 times in just 6 days after its launch ; this number also makes it one of the best-performing new apps this year and last year. ChatGPT for Android should be launched in the United States first, and the official did not mention the launch plans for other countries; but according to past practice, it is expected to follow up in a few weeks or months.

The ChatGPT app on Android is functionally much the same as on iOS; that means it gets most, if not all of the features of the web version. At the same time, it should also be possible to synchronize the user's conversations and preferences across devices.

Of course, TechCrunch also pointed out that given the differences between the two operating systems, the two versions of the application should not be exactly the same. For example, Siri and Shortcuts, which were added to iOS in June, apparently won't make the transition to the app, but Android users will likely get similar functionality.

Interested users can sign up by clicking "Pre-Sign Up" on the Play Store to be notified when the app goes live.
