background

In order to promote innovation and development in the field of scientific intelligence, under the guidance of Shanghai Municipal Development and Reform Commission, Shanghai Municipal Economic and Information Commission, Shanghai Municipal Education Commission, and Shanghai Municipal Science and Technology Commission, Fudan University, based on the open capabilities of the CFFF platform, invited Alibaba Cloud, China Telecom, and the Cloud Institute of China Academy of Information and Communications Technology to jointly launch the first World Scientific Intelligence Competition on the Alibaba Cloud Tianchi platform. The competition has set up five tracks in life science, atmospheric science, material science, fluid mechanics, and quantum chemistry. It has set up a prize pool of one million yuan and is open to global talents. It aims to promote scientific and intelligent technology innovation, tap top innovation teams, create a scientific and intelligent ecology, and stimulate new momentum for the development of scientific and intelligent development.

Part2 schedule

Note: The rematch start time of each track is different, please refer to the information on the details page of the competition topic

Part3 Reward Mechanism

1 million yuan bonus, the prize pool of the five major tracks is 200,000 yuan respectively, and all bonuses are pre-tax amounts

  • First prize: the first place in the final, a bonus of 100,000 yuan, exclusive computing power support from the CFFF platform, and an award certificate

  • Second prize: 2 to 3 finalists, 30,000 yuan bonus, exclusive computing power support from CFFF platform, award certificate

  • Third prize: 4 to 6 finalists, a bonus of 10,000 yuan, and an award certificate

  • Excellence Award: 7 to 10 finalists, a bonus of 2,500 yuan, and an award certificate

Part4 description of the competition

Track 1: Life Science Track

Competition topic: Biological age assessment and risk prediction of geriatric diseases

Biological age assessment evaluates the biological age and health status of individuals by measuring and analyzing the state of specific indicators or physiological processes in organisms. Biological age can provide more accurate health assessment and disease risk prediction than traditional calendar age. This competition provides nearly 10,000 samples of individual methylation data and their geriatric disease information. It is expected that the participants can make accurate predictions on the age of healthy individuals. At the same time, the difference between biological age and real age can reflect the individual's geriatric disease.

Track 2: Atmospheric Science Track

Competition topic: AI medium-term weather forecast competition in East China

This AI medium-term weather forecasting competition provides 10 years of reanalysis data containing 70 variables to predict the temperature, precipitation, strong wind and other elements in the next 1-5 days. The difficulty of the competition is challenging and has practical value, which is closely related to the lives of the public. It can be expected that the results of the competition will promote the application and research of artificial intelligence technology in the field of meteorology, accelerate the development and promotion of deep learning algorithms in the field of meteorology, and at the same time promote the digitalization, intelligence and technological progress of the meteorological industry, improve the quality of production and life services, and make them more efficient, intelligent, accurate and reliable.

Track 3: Materials Science Track

Competition title: Predictive synthesis of metal-organic framework materials

Metal-organic framework (MOF), one of the star materials, is a combination of inorganic chemistry and organic chemistry. It has strong designability, high porosity and many other advantages. It has shown great application potential in energy storage and biomedicine. At present, although more than 100,000 MOF materials have been synthesized, researchers still need to rely on years of experimental experience in order to synthesize new MOF materials with specific structures. This is a very challenging process, time-consuming, labor-intensive and resource-intensive. Therefore, finding an effective method to accurately predict the synthesis conditions of MOFs is the bottleneck to accelerate the exploration and application of MOF materials.

Track Four: Fluid Mechanics Track

Competition topic: Solving flow problems based on NS equations

Partial differential equations (PDEs) play an important role in scientific research and are the cornerstone of research in many scientific fields. Among the many models of fluid research, the NS equation is the most essential and basic PDE, which completely describes the relationship between fluid force and velocity change. Taking a classic unsteady flow as an example, this competition uses a new method to solve the inverse problem based on the NS equation to test the performance of various innovative calculation methods. The complexity of the vortex of the flow increases with time, which can better challenge the performance limits of various new methods and provide new ideas for AI-enabled computing fluid research.

Track Five: Quantum Chemistry Track

Competition topic: Prediction of Molecular Properties in Quantum Chemistry

Quantum chemical calculations have a wide range of applications in the fields of biology, chemistry, medicine and material science. In order to promote the deep integration of quantum chemistry and basic scientific research, it is necessary to develop solutions with lower computational costs and more efficient solutions. This competition open sourced the first domestic data set of over ten million molecular conformations calculated by the high-precision QM method, covering a variety of different single-molecule properties, with the characteristics of high precision, high reliability and high practicability. The goal of this competition is to explore more efficient energy calculation methods and promote the further development and application of quantum chemistry. There are two tracks, A and B, in the preliminary stage of this competition.
