The capacity of QLC meritorious SSD hard disk breaks through 61TB: the lifespan is completely undead

In the process of competition between SSD and HDD, the latter still has an advantage in terms of capacity. After all, large-capacity SSDs are very expensive, but a breakthrough in this area will come sooner or later. Solidigm has now launched the world's largest capacity SSD - D5-P5336, up to 61.44TB.

Previously, the maximum capacity of SSD was 30.72TB. The 61.44TB launched by Solidigm has doubled the capacity. It is mainly designed for ultra-high-density read-intensive storage applications, such as edge artificial intelligence computing and other markets.

Its breakthrough in capacity is due to SK Hynix's 192-layer QLC flash memory. Its performance is top-notch while its capacity is soaring. It supports PCIe 4.0 x4, with a read speed of 7000MB/s and a write speed of 3300MB/s, which is already rare in QLC.

The super large capacity also brings super data life, supporting 0.58 DWPD within the 5-year warranty period, that is, overwriting 0.58 times per day, and the data life reaches 65.2 PBW. This data does not need to be calculated. Normally, it is impossible to write to death. Solidigm said that it is no longer inferior to TLC flash memory.

In addition, the power consumption has reached 25W, but it can be reduced to less than 5W during standby.

Solidigm will provide D5-P5336 in three sizes: U.2/U3 15mm, E3.S 7.5mm and E1.L 9.5mm, with a capacity ranging from 7.68TB to 61.44TB, but only U.2/U.3 and E1.L have a maximum capacity of 61.44TB.
