Overview of SAP Fiori Launchpad

SAP Fiori launchpad is a shell that hosts SAP Fiori applications and provides services such as navigation, personalization, embedded support, and application configuration for applications.

SAP Fiori Launchpad is the entry point to SAP Fiori applications on mobile and desktop devices. Launchpad displays a home page with tiles that can display real-time status indicators, such as the number of open tasks. Each tile represents a business application that a user can launch. This includes SAP Business Suite transactional applications and SAP Smart Business analytical applications. Launchpad is role-based, displaying tiles based on the user's role.

Several features of SAP Fiori Launchpad

Layout personalization

The tiles on the home page are arranged in groups. Users can personalize the layout of the homepage by grouping, moving, and deleting tiles. Users can also add, delete, rename and reorder groups. In order to add tiles to a group, Launchpad provides a tile directory that displays all tiles available to the user.

responsive design

The visual design of the launchpad automatically adapts to the device screen size and only shows tiles of apps supported by the current device. Additionally, the tiles have varying degrees of opacity depending on the user's usage of the app; frequently used apps are more visually prominent than infrequently used apps, which are more transparent.

search capability

The launchpad provides search functionality, including support for SAP Enterprise Search to search across SAP Business Suite entities, and enabling search in the tile catalog.

Themes and Branding

The Launchpad theme can be adjusted using the UI Theme Designer tool.

scalability

Provides APIs to implement custom launchpad UI and custom tile types.

SAP Fiori Launchpad Designer
