Ceph entry to proficiency-rados bench performance benchmark test

Ceph includes  rados bench commands for performance benchmarking of RADOS storage clusters. The command will perform a write test and two types of read tests. Use options when testing read and write performance  --no-cleanup . By default, rados bench the command will delete objects it writes to the storage pool. After leaving these objects, there are two read tests that measure sequential and random read performance.

Before running these performance tests, run the following command to discard all filesystem caches:

  1. Create a new storage pool:

    # ceph osd pool create testbench 100 100
  2. Perform a 10-second write test on the newly created storage pool:

    # rados bench -p testbench 10 write --no-cleanup

  5. To increase the number of concurrent reads and writes, use  -t the option, default is 16 threads. In addition, -b parameters can adjust the size of the object to be written. The default object size is 4MB. A safe maximum object size is 16MB. Red Hat recommends running multiple copies of these benchmarks in different pools. Doing so can show performance changes across multiple clients.

    Add  --run-name <label> option to control the name of the object written during benchmarking. --run-name Multiple  rados bench commands can be run concurrently by changing the label of each running instance of the command  . This prevents I/O errors that may occur if multiple clients try to access the same object and allows different clients to access different objects. --run-name option is also useful when trying to simulate real workloads. For example:
