CiteSpace Getting Started Tutorial

CiteSpace is a software used for document visualization. I will not write here for a lot of detailed introductions on Baidu. This article mainly introduces how to install and use.

1. Download CiteSpace

Go to the SiteSpace official website  to download a mirror package, but you need to prepare the JDK installation package in advance. You can also copy the JDK installation package to the hard disk and then configure the environment yourself.

 2. Download literature data

Take HowNet as an example, first search for the papers you want in HowNet

Tips. HowNet can only select a single page. If you need to export a large amount of data, you can choose to select the display page marked in the red box in the upper right corner as 50.

After selecting the document, select the Refworks file to export

Multiple downloaded documents can be placed in the same folder for backup

3. Data preparation

The data downloaded from CNKI cannot be directly applied to CiteSpace, and needs to be converted in CiteSpace before it can be used.

Open CiteSpace, an interface will appear when you open it for the first time, prompting you to remember to cite the author's paper         after using this software to create a paper , just click Agree.

After entering the main interface, open the Data->Import/Exput option

Remember to switch the CNKI data source, and then you need to set 2 options: input folder, output folder.

In the Status text box below, you will be prompted with the total number of documents read. If the prompt is successful and the number is consistent, you can go to the next step

4. Create a project and calculate

Click the new button         on the main interface to create a project

It is necessary to set the project file and data source file , and switch the file type to CNKI. The project file can be consistent with the output folder of the previous step.

After the creation is complete, select the vocabulary you need to classify on the main interface (generally select keywords), and then click GO to analyze the data.

After completion, it will jump directly to the image interface, where the data can be visualized and analyzed.
