AdmobiOSSDKV7.x-V19.xx version phase-out countdown observation

It is closely related to the income of some developers

On the Admob official website, the effective and deprecated timetables of each SDK are clearly marked, and the addresses can be found at:

https://developers.google.com/admob/android/deprecation?source=email&hl=zh-cn

Friends who are not convenient to visit, the picture is here:

Admob gives the difference between supported , deprecated and deactivated , but because the writing is cumbersome, I simplify it to the question of "whether there will be ads" that developers are most concerned about:

type meaning
support Ads will serve to this version
deprecate Ads will be served to this version.
disabled Ads will not serve to this version. The ad request returned an "unfilled" ad.

It is easy to draw a conclusion here, that is, Admob SDKs with versions v7.xx - v19.xx are scheduled to be deactivated .

This means that by the second quarter of 2023, the revenue of developers who are still using the v7.xx - v19.xx SDK in their products will be directly zeroed.

Having said that, some people should understand the importance of this matter.

At the time of writing this article, it is the second quarter of 2023.

But so far, I have observed that the products corresponding to the SDK version are still profitable. Why is this?

For this reason, I consulted some senior developers and netizens, and finally looked at the Admob official website, and found a more convincing answer.

From here, you can notice that there is an additional "1" description after the deactivation date, so I jumped to the description of 1, and wrote such a paragraph:

A more specific retirement date will be announced on the Google Ads Developer Blog with an update notice 2 months prior to the publication of this page.

In other words, the second quarter of 2023 is only the planned time, and the actual stop time needs to be subject to the official blog released by Admob.

And so far, Admob has not officially posted a blog (I hope you never post ┓( ´∀` )┏). So this means that this SDK still has a life cycle of at least two months.

Admob's official blog is this:

If it is not convenient for you to follow this blog all the time, it doesn’t matter, anyway, I will always be watching and be everyone’s whistleblower .
