Detailed explanation of GeoServer layer slice (WMTS)

Geoserver has the official service capability of OGC. Therefore, GeoServer's wmts service capability is very powerful. Many people have only scratched the surface of it in past use. In this article, we will take you step by step to understand GeoServer's wmts service capabilities from a beginner's perspective.

You don't have to care about your own operating system. Although I use a mac, my geoserver is deployed in the war package in tomact, so this tutorial is universal for mac and windows.

First of all, we need to prepare some test data. There are not many requirements for this data. You can use tiff image data, shape data, or various georeferenced image data such as ipeg and png.

In this article, I take a shape data as an example.

First of all, I will publish a shape of Zhejiang Province as a data source. Everyone should know this step. If you don’t know it, simply go to Baidu to check it.

After the publishing is complete, we can preview the data we published in the layer preview:

Then we find the slice layer in the menu bar on the left side of geoserve:

After clicking to enter, geoserver will help us put all the layers that can be sliced here, that is to say, the layers that appear here are all layers that can be sliced. We find the layer we just published. Then click "select one".
