Lenovo server configuration RAID

1. Background description

Currently there is a Lenovo server with the configuration as follows:
CPU: 2 processors, 40 cores
Memory: 512GB
Disk: 2*960GB SATA + 4*2.4TB SAS

It is planned to install Vmware's ESXi 6.7 virtualization management software on the Lenovo physical computer as a virtualization server.

Two 960GB SATA disks are grouped into RAID1 as the system disk, and ESXi 6.7 image is installed; four 2.4TB SAS disks are grouped into RAID5 as the data disk.


2. Configuring RAID

Start the physical machine --> F1 System Setup --> UEFI Settings --> System Settings --> Storage -->
Slot7 RAID: XXXX --> Main Menu --> Configuration Management --> Create Virtual Drive --> Select RAID Level --> Select RAID1 or RAID5 (depending on the situation) --> Select Drives to select the corresponding disk .

1. Configure RAID1

1) On the F1:System Setup --> RAID setting page, check the status of the 6 disks, and the value " UGOOD " is required.

2) Select UEFI Settings --> System Settings --> Storage

3) Select Slot7 XXXX

4) Select Main Menu

5) Select Configuration Management

6) Select Create Virtual Drive

7) Select RAID Level select RAID1

8) CHOOSE UNCONFIGURED DRIVES Select two 960GB SSD SATA solid state drives as the system disk

9) Select OK

10) Select Save Configuration to save the configuration

11) Check Confirm, select Yes, and confirm to complete the creation

2. Configure RAID5

1) Select RAID Level select RAID5
1) Select RAID Level select RAID5

2) CHOOSE UNCONFIGURED DRIVES Select four 2.4TB HDD SAS mechanical hard disks as data disks

3)Save Configuration

4) After saving on the right side, check the RAID setting page, check the status of all controllers, and you will see Array0 and Array1
