How to restore the file to chk

Many people don't know what a chk file is? In fact, it is the "lost cluster recovery file" generated by the user after using the "disk defragmentation program" to defragment the hard disk. In the process of reading data from mobile devices such as USB flash drives and memory cards, it may fail due to power failure or forced removal. It is easy to generate a large number of chk files. So how does the file become chk and return to normal? This article will tell you the answer in detail.

We can manually change the file extension of .chk to our original file extension. For example, if the original file has a .jpg extension, then we can change it to .jpg and save it. But before modifying the name, the user needs to remember the type of the original file, and then it is recommended that you copy these chk files to other disks before modifying the suffix name, and then perform manual recovery work, which can effectively avoid data loss.

If there are too many chk files and manual modification is too cumbersome, we can modify the file suffix "artifact" in batches to recover (suitable for modifying a single file suffix).

Self-made batch modification file extension "artifact" method:

1. If you want to change all chk files to jpg files, put all chk files in the same folder.

2. Then create a new .txt text file in the folder, and enter ren *.CHK *.jpg in the text file (.CHK is the suffix of the original file, and .jpg is the suffix of the modified file)

3. Save the txt text document as a .bat file, double-click to run the file, and the suffixes of all chk files in the folder will be changed to jpg.

Disk defragmentation or sudden power failure will cause a large number of chk files to appear in the device, which is often accompanied by file loss. When the file cannot be retrieved, the problem of how to restore the normal format after the file becomes chk cannot be solved. Therefore, we can use Cloud Knight data recovery software to restore the lost chk files first, and then restore the files to the specified folder, click "View" to modify the file extension in batches in the folder under the corresponding path of the operation.
