On July 7, China Electronics Standardization Institute (hereinafter referred to as "Electronic Standards Institute") and Tencent Cloud reached a strategic cooperation to jointly promote open source standardization and open source ecological construction.
The two parties will carry out joint explorations in the fields of open source ecology and industrial layout at home and abroad, promote open source project incubation, open source standardization and industrial implementation, and help domestic and international open source ecology flourish.
Sun Wenlong, vice president of the China Electronics Standardization Institute, said: "The open source industry has developed rapidly in recent years. With its advantages in collaborative innovation, flat autonomy and agile development, it has gradually become an important support for promoting the development of informatization."
It is understood that more than 97% of software developers and 99% of enterprises in the world are using open source software. In my country, "open source" is clearly included in the 14th Five-Year Plan, but the early development of open source is more focused on project open source and code contribution, lacking general norms and a complete evaluation mechanism. How to combine international development trends with domestic real needs, improve the independent open source innovation system, and promote the establishment of open source technical standards has become an important issue in the next stage of open source development.
The Institute of Electronic Standards began to promote the open source ecological construction in China very early, organized the industry to carry out the research and construction of the Mulan open source license family, and promoted the world's first OSI internationally recognized, Chinese and English bilingual Mulan loose open source license. The open source license agreement is the legal basis of the open source ecosystem and the institutional guarantee for the sustainable development of the open source industry. In addition, the Institute of Electronic Standards also builds and operates the Mulan Open Source Community and the China Open Source Cloud Alliance, and has established cooperative relationships with a number of international standardization organizations and well-known open source institutions at home and abroad.
Tencent Cloud has also invested in open source for a long time. In the field of basic technology, Tencent is the community initiator and important technical contributor of the full-link localized operating system OpenCloudOS; in the field of open source contribution, Tencent is the first batch of sponsors of the Open Atomic Open Source Foundation, and donated its two major open source Projects - TencentOS tiny, a lightweight IoT real-time operating system, and TKEStack, an enterprise-level container orchestration engine.
Tencent Cloud also actively builds open and collaborative technical standards through open source methods, thereby promoting the development of localized technologies. In the field of cloud computing, Tencent Cloud has actively participated in the formulation of a number of cloud computing standards, as well as a number of open standards organizations in the audio and video field. In the Open Media Alliance, Tencent is the only founding member in China, and will participate in the formulation of the next-generation open coding standards and domestic open source-related standards in the future.
Chen Ping, vice president of Tencent Cloud, said that based on this strategic cooperation, Tencent will work with the Electronic Standards Institute to cooperate in key technology fields such as cloud native, operating system, low-code, and next-generation architecture, and leverage their respective expertise to jointly promote open source standards. Research and development, standardized evaluation and other work, help China's scientific and technological innovation and the transformation of open source scientific research results, and jointly build China's open source ecosystem.
