True to its name: Google Chrome's road to success

There was a time when the Microsoft Internet Explorer browser ruled the world. While that doesn't mean everyone likes it, Microsoft's steadfastness with web browsers makes the browser accessible to most computers.

But according to these maps (produced by Jody Sieradzki of Dadaviz), support for a product is only so short-lived that most people scoff at it.

These maps show changes in web browser popularity from 2008 to 2015, as Chrome, Firefox, and Internet Explorer competed against each other to see which would be the web browser of the future.

Let's see how Chrome has won this web browser war (because the author is a foreigner, some of the information in mainland China is inaccurate):

In 2008, Microsoft Internet Explorer ruled the world.

In 2009 Opera prevailed in Eastern Europe.

In 2010, Firefox overtook Opera to become mainstream.

Chrome quietly entered people's field of vision in 2011.

In 2012, Chrome, Firefox, and Internet Explorer were evenly divided.

Chrome started winning this battle in 2013.

Did Safari catch on in Greenland in 2014?

Chrome pretty much took over the world in 2015 (even though Microsoft released the "Edge" browser in 11/15 and is promoting it heavily).
