Copenhagen Energy Efficiency Center: Alibaba Cloud changes the world with clean computing power

Abstract: At the just-concluded G20 Hamburg Summit, climate change once again became the focus of the G20 summit. At the just-concluded Group of Twenty (G20) Hamburg summit, climate change once again became the focus of the 20 leaders.

Eight years ago, at the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen, participating countries tried their best to negotiate on greenhouse emission reduction. Eight years later, the Copenhagen Energy Efficiency Center supported by the United Nations wrote an article introducing Alibaba Cloud's green data center technology. The article said that Alibaba Cloud is striving to achieve a balance between people, cities and nature.

"By building an environmentally friendly data center, Alibaba Cloud has practiced environmental protection and sustainable operations."

Copenhagen Energy Efficiency Center wrote an article introducing three cooling technologies that Alibaba Cloud is developing and applying.

As early as 2015, Alibaba Cloud established China's first green data center near Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province. This data center uses lake water cooling technology.

Deep lake water with constant water temperature flows through the computer room through completely closed pipes, which allows the data center to have green cooling for 90% of the operating time.

In the newly constructed North China data center, Alibaba Cloud also took advantage of the link factors.

In the northern part of Hebei Province, China, the temperature in winter can be as low as minus 38 degrees. Due to the cold weather, local residents have been unable to engage in outdoor work for nearly half a year. Alibaba Cloud used the local cold weather to build a unique cooling system for the North China data center.
Compared with a normal data center, the cooling energy consumption here is reduced by 59%. The data center's energy usage efficiency (PUE) was only 1.13, well below the Chinese average of 2.5.

Alibaba Cloud's pursuit of energy efficiency has never stopped.

Not long ago, Alibaba Cloud launched the "fully immersed liquid-cooled server" technology. This technology immerses the server in a non-conductive, cryogenic liquid, which circulates for cooling.

The energy utilization (PUE) of this scenario approaches the theoretical limit of 1.0.

Total immersion cooling technology is the most energy efficient cooling method known in the industry. Because there is no interference from external factors such as air, water vapor, dust and fan vibration.

Copenhagen Energy Efficiency Center believes that Alibaba Cloud is striving to promote the construction of data centers to meet the growing computing needs of e-commerce, cloud computing, network services and big data. " Alibaba Cloud

's data centers run with clean and renewable resources can not only change the world with huge computing power, but also help protect human's precious natural resources.
