A topic is a logical concept. A topic corresponds to multiple partitions. Each partition is in a broker. A partition will have multiple replications in itself and other brokers. In each partition, the message (assuming a file of 400K), then the first N messages, full of 0-399K, are placed in the first 0000000000399.log, and then there will be a 000000000000399.index file, which is sparsely placed in the corresponding log file index (directory) in
