Generally, we want to try the software before buying it. However, when many users install the genuine software after the trial is completed, there is a problem that they cannot be installed, which makes many people very headache. So what is the reason? Today, I will take the uninstallation and reinstallation of Vegas as an example to teach you how to deal with this problem.
First of all, we need to understand the reasons why some free video production software cannot be installed. There are many reasons for the failure to install. First of all, you need to have a basic understanding of the problem that occurs. Generally, there are the following reasons:
1. Residuals of software installation files
Figure 1: Software cannot be installed
This situation is mainly when you have installed a software, then uninstalled it and reinstalled it. This kind of problem is relatively simple. You only need to find the installation directory of the software and delete all residual files. (The default installation directory is: C:\Pragram Files\VEGAS) For specific steps, you can refer to: What should I do if Vegas&Movie Studio cannot be installed?
2. Remnants of the registry

If you still can't install after using the first method, we need to clean up the residue of the registry at this time.

Use "Start" - "Run" (or shortcut "Win+R") to open the search window, enter "regedit" to open your computer's registry interface. Find the Vegas registry remnants you have previously installed in the following path (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE→SOFTWARE→Sony Creative Software→VEGAS Pro or Movie Studio), as shown below.

Delete all the files in the VEGAS Pro or Movie Studio directory (note: delete which folder if there is a problem with the installed software, do not delete it randomly), the method is to right-click the folder and select delete. After deleting the remaining registry entries, restart your computer and install Vegas again.

3. Missing files

Another problem that cannot be installed is (of course, after the installation is completed, when the program is started), the system prompts you that the files (usually .dll files) required to install the software are missing. You only need to download the installation package again, or go to the Internet to download the missing files directly, and then install it again.
