Introduce several commonly used connectors in circuits (1)

I've been working on a few small circuit projects recently. After doing this, I found that there are many small parts that I don't know what they are called. Such as the large and small connectors used above. It's common, but I just don't know the name. So I took the time to do some research.

This blog will summarize several common plastic inserts. There are too many types, and one blog can't be written all over, so I'm going to write a series, and each article will introduce 3-4 kinds of connectors.
First of all, I recommend a website to you:
http://www.jst-mfg.com/index_e.php

On this website, you can find the specifications of various common connectors, and you can also download 3D models, which are very useful. The content I introduce below is basically based on the information on this website.

SM Connector

This kind of connector is used a lot in machine vision light source. Basically, all kinds of ring lights and strip lights are this kind of interface, the difference is nothing more than 2P or 3P.

As shown above, the SM connector is a wire to wire connector. Both wires are of the crimp type. The domestic ones are all black, and the foreign ones are basically white.
PIN spacing is 2.5mm, with arm lock (arm locking mechanism, self-translated, not a standard term). Common ones are 2P, 3P, and 4P.
Wire thickness range: 0.08 - 0.33mm^2 (AWG #28 - #22), the working current should not exceed 3A.

XH Connector

This kind of connector is mostly used on the external connection line of the circuit board, and the male head is welded on the circuit board, and there are two kinds of straight head and elbow.
The PIN spacing is 2.5mm without arm lock.

You can also buy a male connector for wiring on Taobao, similar to the picture below.

But this kind of male head basically has a section of wire, and there are few plugs that are sold separately.

Common ones are 2P, 3P, 4P, 5P, ... 16P, 20P.
Wire thickness range: 0.08 - 0.33mm^2 (AWG #28 - #22), the working current should not exceed 3A.

PH Connector

The ph connector is somewhat similar to the XH connector. The main difference is that the PIN pitch of the PH series is 2.0mm. This type of connector is also generally soldered to the circuit board by the male head, and the female head is crimped to the wire. Of course you can also buy male headers with crimped wires.
