Huawei's industry digital platform: adding one point is too much, and subtracting one point is not wise

Gao Qing is one of the 140 county-level units in Shandong Province.

Gaoqing is known as "China's Hot Spring City", "China's Famous Liquor City", "China's Black Bull City", and is also named "China's Most Happiest City".

In the field of smart cities, smart Gaoqing has different meanings. It is a smart city with the most "resource planning" and "capacity sharing" thinking.

Both a technology platform and a cooperation model

Gao Qing went south through Anhui and Zhejiang provinces, and entered Fuzhou, Fujian. The two places are 1,250 kilometers apart, but now the topic is the same.

During the first Digital China Construction Summit in Fuzhou, Yu Dong, President of Huawei's EBG Industry Marketing and Solutions Department, systematically expounded "Huawei Industry Digital Platform" and "Huawei Smart City Digital Platform" with the case of Smart Gaoqing as an introduction.

Huawei's industry digital platform: adding one point is too much, and subtracting one point is not wise

Huawei's industry digital platform: adding one point is too much, and subtracting one point is not wise

Yu Dong, President of Huawei EBG Industry Marketing and Solutions Dept.

To briefly describe the definition, Huawei's industry digital platform is an industry operating system (EOS, Enterprise Operating System) jointly built with partners for key business scenarios in key industries. It is not only a technical capability platform supporting the digital transformation of the industry, but also a new cooperation model between Huawei and its partners.

Comparing the definition of this platform, it is easy to think of Huawei's concept of "black land". Huawei hopes to provide an information-based, automated and intelligent "black land" by focusing on ICT infrastructure and smart terminals. It should be said that the "black land" reflects Huawei's own ICT capabilities, while the industry digital platform emphasizes the integration of Huawei and its partners' capabilities in platform, data, and applications. For "fertile land".

Three types of partners

Specifically, in a complete digital transformation solution, Huawei's industry digital platform is at a key node linking the previous and the next, connecting upward with applications and downward with data. Therefore, Huawei's industry digital platform also defines three types of partners: platform service partners, data service partners, and application partners.

Huawei's industry digital platform "downwards" cooperates with data service partners, and can access data of different types and different standards to the platform in a unified mode; "upwards" connects with application partners to serve key application scenarios in various industries. The middle layer that connects the previous and the next is the industry digital platform, and at the same time integrates the digital capabilities of partners into the platform.

One point is too much, minus one point is not a smart platform

Then focus on the "internal structure" of Huawei's industry digital platform. The bottom layer is the terminal. Based on the LiteOS IoT operating system, Huawei cooperates with partners to collect and access various data.

Above the terminal layer is the cloud infrastructure layer, which is Huawei's core capabilities independently displayed, including computing capabilities, storage capabilities, full connectivity capabilities, and edge computing capabilities.

Above the cloud infrastructure layer is the most differentiated part of Huawei's industry digital platform. Huawei and its partners have jointly built five "capability modules", namely video, big data, IoT, GIS, and ICP (Integrated Communication Platform).

Why the "Big Five" Ability Modules? And why the above five abilities? This can quite reflect Huawei's industry experience. It can even be said that adding one point to the five capabilities is too much, and reducing one point is not smart, and it cannot support the digital transformation of the industry.

Why? Smart government affairs, smart medical care, smart transportation... You can imagine as much as you can. Although the scenarios and applications are ever-changing, the underlying capabilities, in addition to cloud infrastructure, are all composed of video, big data, IoT, GIS, and ICP capabilities. At least at this stage Not out of this range.

Huawei's capability store

Of course, it must be noted that the above five capabilities are not provided by Huawei alone, but are integrated with the capabilities of platform partners. Yu Dong, President of Huawei's EBG Industry Marketing and Solutions Department, likens this model to "mobile phone operating system + AppStore".

For example, based on the smart city application scenario, Huawei and Guangtong Software cooperate in the big data module. If Huawei is providing a smart city nervous system including cloud, network and platform, Guangtong Software focuses on the data hematopoietic function of smart city.

Just like the pre-installed APP in the mobile phone, Guangtong Software pre-installed its information resource sharing platform and data exchange platform with independent intellectual property rights in Huawei's big data platform. The two parties jointly form standardized data processing and analysis capability services that can be sold by third-party partners, that is, "Huawei + A partner" to form a capability set, which can be sold by N partners in the ecosystem.

Similar cooperation is also reflected in other capability modules of Huawei's industry digital platform. For example, in the video module, Huawei has cooperated with SenseTime and Yitu Technology; in the IoT module, it has cooperated with companies such as Honeywell. It can be seen that due to the emergence of industry digital platforms, Huawei's ecological cooperation model has been transformed into a diversified one, extending from application-supported cooperation to capability-based cooperation, from co-constructing "scenario sets" with application partners, to extending to cooperation with platforms Partners jointly build a "platform capability set".

Digital Platforms in Smart Cities

Returning to the topic of smart high-tech, Huawei's industry digital platform can support the digital transformation of hundreds of industries, including smart cities. Smart high-tech is based on this platform for construction.

Based on the five capability modules of Huawei's industry digital platform, Wisdom Gaoqing accordingly proposed a "five overall planning" design and implementation methodology. At present, Smart Gaoqing has integrated the government affairs data of 54 departments in the government, carried the smart application services provided by more than 20 partners, and realized the city's "cloud computing resource coordination", "urban big data coordination", "GIS one-stop service". "Picture Coordination", "Video Cloud Coordination", "Command and Dispatch Coordination".

For example, through the eLTE network throughout the county, it can not only serve public safety, command and dispatch, but also “share” and coordinate applications in scenarios such as smart agriculture, smart water, smart environmental protection, and smart health.

The same overall thinking is also reflected in "a GIS map". The GIS system can not only be applied to land resources and intelligent transportation, but also can be "shared" in land circulation. Through the construction of the land circulation system, the soil and water quality data and meteorological data of each piece of land in Gaoqing will be connected to the big data platform. Which piece of land is suitable for growing rice, which piece of soil is suitable for growing tomatoes, and which piece of land is suitable for raising black cattle will all be identified in the land circulation system.

Best Practices & Methodologies

Finally, Smart Gaoqing is built on the basis of Huawei's smart city digital platform, which in turn originates from the derivative changes of Huawei's industry digital platform in the field of smart cities. If the "Industry Digital Platform" is Huawei's methodology for the digital transformation of the service industry, Smart Gaoqing is based on the platform's best practices.

Through the five capability modules of Huawei's industry digital platform, the capabilities of Huawei and its partners will be superimposed, and through the "five coordination", various underlying resources of smart cities can be shared and released to the greatest extent. As a result, the investment cost of smart cities is further reduced, the operation efficiency is further improved, and the foundation is also laid for future data fusion, data value-added, and further enrichment of applications.
