From mid-December 2017 to the end of April 2018, these four months were mainly in preparation for the network system management project of the WorldSkills Competition.
1. About the World Championship
I didn't know much about the World Championships before, but I only occasionally saw relevant reports in the news. This competition is held every two years, and it is now in its 45th year. China has not participated in the World Championships for a long time. It may be because it conforms to the policy orientation of "craftsmen of great powers". At present, the national level attaches great importance to the World Championships. The awards for the winners are carried out in accordance with the standards of the Olympic Games. Winning a prize in the competition can indeed change the fate of a student's life.
2. All the way PK
The competition system of the World Championship is also similar to the Olympic Games. There is only one contestant in each event, so the process of the competition is extremely cruel.
The 45th World Championship will be held in Russia in 2019, and we are currently participating in domestic trials at all levels. The competition process of the competition started from our school. We received the competition notice in December. At that time, 6 students signed up, but there were only 2 places in the entire Yantai City to participate in the provincial competition, and only 1 place was allocated to our school. In this round of intra-campus PK, Gao Chunxiao finally won. At the beginning of April, they participated in the Shandong Provincial Trial. There were 21 contestants in the province, and 5 were selected to enter the provincial training team. In this second round of PK, Gao Chunxiao was the 4th and won again. At the end of April, the five-in-one selection competition for the training team was held again. Only one of the five people could represent Shandong Province to participate in the national competition. It is the second place, the first place is undoubtedly from the organizer, and our road to the World Championships this time has ended.
3. Network system management project
Most of the projects in the World Championship are skill competitions, such as plastering, partition wall, catering, flower arrangement, etc., but the network system management project is a typical technical competition with very high technical content, including Linux, Windows, Cisco, Troubleshooting 4 modules, 5.5 hours of competition per module.
The three courses of Cisco, Linux, and Windows are the core courses of our computer network technology major, and the total credit hours of each course reach 400 hours. Even so, our final teaching depth is far from the requirements of the World Championships. For example, Linux uses the Debian8 system, and the content of the competition basically covers all service configurations, firewalls, shell scripts, etc.; Windows uses Server2016, in addition to all conventional services, it also involves ServerCore and PowerShell; Cisco uses It is PacketTracer and the latest virl simulator, covering switching routing, firewall, VoIP, IPv6, etc. In addition, the competition environment also uses various virtualization technologies such as VMware Workstation, ESXi, and Hyper-V.
During the 4 months of preparation for the competition, both for the students and myself, the technical ability has been greatly improved compared to before. However, in the next national and world competitions, the difficulty will increase by an order of magnitude every time we advance to a competition, so for this five-to-one trial, our mentality is that we are happy to win, and we are very calm when we lose. Because the next game is beyond our ability, we should let more capable people play.
4. Tucao
At the end of the article, I still have to complain a few words. I have led the team to participate in many games in the past few years, and I have also witnessed some games as a bystander. Generally speaking, most of these competitions within the government-led system are full of inside information. It can only be said that wherever there is interest, there will be rivers and lakes. The greater the interest, the more means.
I'm also realizing more and more clearly that if we rely on technology alone and don't engage in relationships, then we can't achieve good results in these competitions. But if you also engage in relationships in the same way, then it really goes against your original intention and nature. Where should you go?
Master Confucius once said, "Wealth and honor can be sought, even if a man with a whip, I will also do it; It means that if I can get wealth, fame and fortune through normal means, I would be willing even if someone drives a car to be a driver, but if I can't ask for it, then it's better to "follow what I like".
