iFLYTEK expert: China has strong international competitiveness in the field of artificial intelligence

China News Agency , Beijing, April 20 (Reporter Wang Enbo) Artificial intelligence technology is currently attracting worldwide attention, and all countries want to seize the opportunity. Hu Yu, executive president of iFLYTEK and chief scientist of China's national "863" human-like intelligence project, told a reporter from China News Agency in Beijing on the 20th that China has strong international competitiveness in the field of artificial intelligence technology.

iFLYTEK is a national-level backbone software company specializing in intelligent voice and language technology, artificial intelligence technology research, software and chip product development, etc. On the same day, the company released a portable translator in Beijing. Based on its self-developed speech recognition and artificial intelligence technology, the device can realize real-time translation between Chinese and more than 30 foreign languages.

Hu Yu told reporters that, unlike hardware such as chips and robots, artificial intelligence is an algorithmic technology that exists in a virtual world and a "digital universe", and China has a considerable number of core algorithms and its understanding of related technologies. "Some Chinese companies and research institutions are not behind the United States in terms of artificial intelligence."

The Chinese government also attaches great importance to this technological "window". The "13th Five-Year Plan" outline involves artificial intelligence. Previously, the National Development and Reform Commission and other departments also issued the "Internet +" Artificial Intelligence Three-Year Action Implementation Plan.

Hu Yu pointed out that the reason why China is in a leading position in this wave of artificial intelligence development is that it is not limited to competition in the technical field, but also competes with cloud computing, big data and other infrastructures, as well as the construction of mobile Internet and Internet of Things business ecosystems. China has a good foundation in these aspects.

However, Hu Yu also said that software is ultimately based on hardware, and China still needs to strengthen its independent innovation capabilities in terms of chips, so as to establish a solid support for the development of artificial intelligence and other technologies
