Below, I will share my own learning and autumn recruitment experience with you. If you have any mistakes, please point them out, hoping to help those who are confused.

Chapter 1 Personal Profile

1.1 Personal background

I have both undergraduate and postgraduate studies in Shuangfei colleges and universities (one ordinary one), majoring in electrical engineering, CET-6, and have the second-level C language for computer and the second-level MS Office advanced application certificate for computer.

During the undergraduate period, there was no personal opinion. The author learned what the school taught. The computer aspect is limited to being familiar with the C language and understanding the 51 single-chip microcomputer. During the postgraduate period, I mainly did some hardware and STM32 microcontroller projects with my tutor, and embedded Linux was self-study. During the first semester, I mainly used  Altium Designer to draw circuit schematics and PCB boards. In the first semester of the second semester, I learned STM32F1 microcontroller to write C language programs. The second semester of the second semester and the last semester of the third semester mainly taught myself embedded Linux, and there was a period of four Months of internship experience on Linux platform. In the process of self-learning embedded Linux, the learning experience of single-chip microcomputer has played a very good role.

1.2 Job hunting experience

The author started to submit resumes for internships on April 1, 2020. By the end of April 15, 2020, a total of 10 companies had been delivered. After receiving internship offers from three companies, I chose one of the Linux platforms and practiced for four months. Proficiency in using Source Insight, Xshell, secureCRT, Beyond Compare, MobaXterm, notepad++ and other software at work, these softwares are a must for embedded software engineers.

The author officially started to submit resumes for autumn recruitment from July 1, 2020. By the end of September 1, 2020, a total of 90 companies have been delivered, both in advance (June-July 2020) and formal approval (August-2020- October), as well as some state-owned enterprises and research institutes.

Summer Internship Recruitment: The recruiting objects for summer internships are mainly junior and senior students. The time is around March to May each year. Formal approval: The formal approval follows the advance approval. Generally, the formal approval will begin immediately after the advance approval is over. This is the time when the entire recruitment process has the most HCs. It is recommended to deliver as early as possible, because there are so many vacancies. After recruiting a certain number of people, they will no longer recruit. Spring recruiting for the coming year: Spring recruiting for the coming year is generally in March-May of the second year. Compared with the scale of autumn recruiting, the recruitment scale of spring recruiting is much smaller, mainly because the company did not recruit enough people during the autumn recruiting process. This is also the last school recruitment opportunity for fresh graduates to find a job.

2.1.2 Establish direction

Generally speaking, the bigger the company, the clearer the division of labor, while the smaller company requires you to be a generalist. Therefore, it is recommended that students find a larger company for their first job, improve their personal skills, and be able to gild them.

Determining the personal direction as soon as possible can save a lot of time. At present, the embedded direction mainly includes embedded application development, embedded driver development and so on. There are many directions for embedded application development, which can be biased towards the development of the QT interface of C++ or the direction of audio and video streaming media. The embedded driver development is mainly the driver development under the Linux system. The ratio of application development and driver development positions is 8:2. Various companies have embedded application development positions, and driver positions mainly exist in major chip manufacturers and large companies. There are various embedded platforms, such as RK platform, Freescale platform, HiSilicon platform, MediaTek platform, and Qualcomm platform. For application development, it is more troublesome to change the platform. For driver development, the main technology stack is at the bottom, so it is more inclined to technical experts, and it is more convenient to switch platforms.

2.1.3 Define the position

Here is a brief introduction to some positions that can be delivered in the direction of the embedded technology stack, which is convenient for everyone to refer to in the autumn recruitment process. Post embedded positions, undergraduate majors are generally automation, electrical engineering, electronic information, Internet of Things, and communication engineering. You can also transfer from other majors.

2.1.3.1 Embedded application development engineer

Embedded application development, there are many technical directions, such as audio and video development (such as driving recorders, action cameras), such as the communication industry (routers, repeaters), the Internet of Things (smart home), or you can prefer C++ to develop with QT interface.

2.1.3.2 Embedded driver engineer

The general career progression for an embedded drive engineer is that of a technologist. Driver engineers generally need to learn driver development and the Linux kernel, and the Linux kernel and drivers are not separated. Familiar with the Linux kernel can better understand the implementation principle of the underlying API, and can better write drivers, so driver engineers generally also take into account the kernel engineers.

2.1.3.2 Embedded Linux operation and maintenance engineer

Mainly perform some operation and maintenance work for the company's Linux server, with low technical content, not deep technology stack, and the average salary is not as high as the above two positions (except for the operation and maintenance of large factories).
