Godot runs on Android

The latest release of Godot 3.5 Beta 3 development version has been supported to run on Android.

According to reports, the porting of the Godot editor on Android began two years ago.

Since the Godot editor is built with Godot itself, the Godot editor for Android can be compiled by changing parts of the build system . But there's still a lot of work to do to get this build to work on Android devices, including improved mouse and keyboard support, better touch input, and the ability to run projects in the editor just like on the desktop.

After extensive testing with interested users, the project is moving slowly and steadily. Godot's Android maintainer, Fredia Huya-Kouadio, did the final work and merged this code into Godot 3.5 (  GH-57747  ). The current version doesn't have many mobile-specific changes, so it will only work on tablets that come with a keyboard and mouse.

In addition, with the help of contributors, Fredia is optimized for the low processor usage patterns of Android devices, suitable for making non-gaming applications or non-real-time games on Android and wanting to extend battery life.

Users can now find builds of the Android editor in the download repository: <godot_version>_android_editor.apk. Note, however, that the currently built version is not signed, so you will get a warning when installing.
