The utar command is used under Linux to compress and decompress files. The package that is typed out using the tar program is often called a tar package. The tar package file usually ends with .tar u Compressed and decompressed source files will not disappear u Archive And compression: 1. Reduce the occupied space 2. Group scattered files into a compressed package uu Linux unique compression format and command tool: u gzip---> .gz 

       bzip2---> .bz2

       xz---> .xz

Common options of tar tool

utar command format: tar option /path/compressed package name compressed file

uc creates a package file

uf specifies the name of the packaged file

uz calls the .gz compression tool -J calls the .xz compression tool -j calls the .bz2 compression tool

ut lists the contents of the packaged document

ux release packaged files

uC specifies the decompression path

uv show detailed information

Format of the tar tool

utar –cf /compressed directory/file... //Create a compressed file utar –tf compressed file.tar //View the contents of the compressed file utar -rf Compressed file name/directory/file name//Append files to the packaged file utar --delete File name -f Compressed file name//Delete the specified file from the compressed file utar -xf Compressed file name -C /directory//Unzip the file to the specified directory utar -czf Compressed file name.tar.gz The compressed directory or file/ /Call gzip compression format to compress utar -cJf compressed file name.tar.xz is compressed directory or file//call xz compression format compression


Note: 1. After decompression, the source compressed file will not be deleted

     2. The decompression command format of the tar package is unified with tar -xf compressed file name
