The two functions of deepening and drilling are mainly used in reports with hierarchical relationships, such as provinces, municipalities, and year, month, and day. You can view different levels of report content by clicking drill down or drill down.

Example

Let's take the following sales table as an example to demonstrate the deepening and drilling operations of the order date.

Design report

We drag and drop the order date and quantity onto the chart setting panel of the histogram, as shown below:

Then we can see the specific report information on the canvas, as shown below:

The figure above is the sales volume for the whole year of 2016.

Deepen

Next, we turn on the deepening. When we click on the column on the histogram, we will see the data of the next layer, and then click on one of the columns, and we will see the data of the next layer until the last layer. As shown below:

The up arrow next to it will gather the corresponding results upwards, as shown in the figure below.

Drill down

There are two buttons to drill down, one is to go to the next level of the hierarchy, and the other is to expand all down levels in the hierarchy.

Let's first demonstrate that we move to the next level in the hierarchy. As shown below:

Attentive friends can observe that the legend on the X axis changes from year to month.

Let's take a look at the effect of all down-shifting levels in the expanded hierarchy, as shown in the following figure:

This will bring all relevant information from the previous layer to the next layer.

annotation

Deepening and drilling are also two functions that we often need to use. Especially for deepening, you can drill to the next layer directly by clicking on the relevant data on the icon, making it easier for us to find the source of the problem.
