You are all friends of time, and you are all continuing to write extraordinary legends.

In 2020, there is a very new challenge before all of us who do things. In the past, we all assumed that we live in a country with a vast land and resources, and we are in an era of globalization. There are not enough resources to do the things at hand. You can use various means to call remote resources, or even global resources, to solve the problem.

But what about this year? We suddenly realized that there is still such a situation. We have to take local materials and solve problems in a country, a city, or even a community. In the future, the epidemic will pass, and 2020 will also give us a very interesting question: Can we achieve our goals on the premise of limited resources?

This year, education expert Shen Zuyun told a wonderful case in her "Global Education Report". I followed Teacher Shen excitedly, and simply went there.

This is a mountain village elementary school, located in the deep mountains of Huairou District, Beijing. It is called Jiuduhe Elementary School. Please note that this is an authentic mountain village primary school.

You know, nowadays, mountain village primary schools in China are not bad when it comes to hardware. The real problem with Shancun Elementary School is that there are no good teachers. The entire school originally had only 23 teachers, all of whom were local teachers. One can imagine how difficult it is to send a college student who graduated from another place to teach in the mountainous area and stay there. If famous teachers are the school's resources, then there is no solution to such problems as Jiuduhe Primary School.

What happened to Jiudu River? In other words, on January 17, 2020, a new principal came, Principal Yu Hailong. One thing he did, he posted a lot of notices in several surrounding mountain villages, hiring tutors.

The notice was posted, and more than 80 people signed up within a week. You may be a little surprised, what kind of tutor can be available in the village?

Yes, they are paper-cutting, tofu-making, lantern-making, bee-raising, fish-raising, silkworm-raising, oil-squeezing, chefs, etc.

You see, they are actually such ordinary villagers. What everyone has is nothing more than the ability of farmers to make a living on weekdays. Hearing this, you may be a little discouraged, thinking what innovation Principal Yu can do, and it seems that after a long time, he added a few interest courses. Learning to grind tofu is not bad, but as a parent, sending a child to school is not for him to grow up to grind tofu. In the future, the child will have to rely on his ability to study and learn to grind tofu. What about cultural classes? This does not solve the problem!

The wonderful thing is coming. Principal Yu asked the children not only to make tofu, but also to sell it. You see, making tofu has become a very real challenge. Under this challenge, the original various cultural courses in the school can be incorporated.

How to make tofu? The content of the science class comes in. How to calculate various costs clearly and record various income clearly? The content of the arithmetic class is basically covered. Don’t forget, these tofu will be sold to other schools’ cafeterias and surrounding restaurants. Then you have to write a copy to impress people, and the content of the Chinese class will be covered.

Now you understand that the introduction of the tofu course only introduces a shell and a challenge, and the knowledge points required by the national curriculum standards have been put into this shell by Principal Yu. Children can learn even more than the curriculum standards require. For example, the national curriculum standards require children to learn percentage points in sixth grade.

But grinding tofu requires calculating the ratio of soybeans to water, so children learn it in advance. For children, percentage is no longer an abstract concept, but a concrete life experience. The national curriculum standards stipulate that in the third and fourth grade science classes, children should understand the conversion relationship of weight units and learn to use instruments to measure mass, volume and temperature. Children can master all these contents while making tofu.

There are many similar courses: woodworking class, baking class, porcelain class, traditional handicraft class, breeding class, vegetable cultivation class, and so on. You see, these lessons provide a challenge. The source of knowledge can be textbooks, the Internet, or the tutors around you. These lessons provide only the problems to be solved, but the problems are the students' own. We all know one sentence, the problem is the best teacher.

Bringing real problems to the world to find solutions, this is what learning should be.

Didn't expect it? In this mountain village elementary school, it is truly realized.

In the first grade classroom of Jiuduhe Elementary School, I was surprised to find another thing. Chinese Pinyin is not taught here. It's weird, we all went to elementary school back then, and the first class of course started with Chinese Pinyin. I asked the teacher in the class, and he told me: "Learn Chinese Pinyin, learn to write, don't worry.

Let the child start with oral composition and let him learn to express one thing clearly. After that, he naturally must look for tools to record things. Well, he is eager to find tools, then teach writing again. If you have difficulty in writing, tell your child that there is a tool that can help you write and recognize characters, called Chinese Pinyin. Would you like to learn it? Children will naturally be willing to learn Chinese Pinyin. Start with the challenge, and then hand the child the solution tool. The objective effect is that the enthusiasm for learning will not be extinguished from beginning to end. "

Zhang Quanling, who was acquired by my old colleague and young man, did a "Quanling's Chinese Class". She told me that this product has a magical effect, that is, children in the first grade of elementary school can quickly learn more than 500 words of oral composition. Children in the fifth grade of elementary school can read 1 million words and make character analysis.

I never understood how this thing was done before. However, it wasn't until I actually went to Jiuduhe Primary School that I understood what Zhang Quanling said to me: Education is not for coping with exams, but for helping children build problem-solving skills.

Is this the end? In fact, the biggest excitement of this story is not here. Is it just that the school found resources in the surrounding villages? Do not. Think about it, did the villages around you get anything?

For the villagers, grinding tofu, doing woodwork, growing vegetables, and raising chickens were originally just a means of subsistence and income; now, an invitation from Jiuduhe Primary School has made them teachers. "I am a tofu grinder and become a teacher." As you can imagine, their lives were ignited by this new identity, and they enjoyed the glory of rural society.

This is tofu teacher Yang Kunquan, this is paper-cutting teacher Qu Guangying, this is woodworking teacher Han Jianpeng, and this is lantern teacher Bai Fenglian.

I have talked with some of them, and they told me that they have never loved this craft like today. You see, not only the school has resources, but the surrounding villages and people around are also illuminated and brilliance. The relationship between the school and the village has also been improved.

Although I am not a rural child myself, I grew up in a small city. There is an alley in front of our house. There are always children running around in the alley. All adults can call the children over and give them a sentence; if the parents of the children are not at home, the adults will always call them to run around in the street. The children go back to their homes to eat a meal so that they will not be hungry. As an African proverb says: It takes the whole village to raise a child. What are you talking about? It means that learning and growth are integrated with the surrounding environment and the community.

In the past, we always felt that in order to solve a problem, we must have resources. For example, to improve the level of education, a large number of teachers must be available. However, Jiuduhe Elementary School, let us see another way to solve the problem. Children grow up in the community, the entire community nourishes the children, and the children bring hope to the community. We have seen this benign educational vision on the Jiudu River and the surrounding land.

At the gate of Jiuduhe Elementary School, I saw the school motto written on the wall, which contained two sentences: "There is a root under my feet, and there is light in my eyes." Why is there light in my eyes? Because children are solving specific problems, the light in their eyes is because they are really looking for answers. Where is the root? The roots are in the nearby village, in the nearby people.

So education expert Shen Zuyun said that educational resources are actually everywhere. Resources are all around you.

You will find that people who work in the office often get the same result by different routes. Let me ask you a question. Suppose you are the factory manager of a photovoltaic power station in Qinghai. Because the local wind and sand are heavy and small stones are often blown up, the damage rate of photovoltaic panels is relatively high. As a factory manager, how do you control this indicator well?

The Qinghai Talatan Photovoltaic Power Station encountered this problem.

How to prevent sandstorm? The solution is to plant grass. Think about it, if grass seeds are planted on the ground, drought-tolerant pastures can hold the soil firmly. In this way, as soon as the grass grows, the problem of easy damage and scrapping of photovoltaic panels is mostly solved.

But what everyone didn't expect was that when you press the gourd and raise the scoop, a new problem has arisen: because the photovoltaic panels have to be cleaned regularly, the water flows on the grass under the panels, and the photovoltaic panels shade the sun again, creating perfect growth for the pasture. In the environment, the grass grows wildly, even covering the photovoltaic panels. You see, new solutions have brought new problems.

What should I do now? Manual weeding? The power station is very large, 54 square kilometers, and the cost is too high. If it were you, what would you do?

The staff thinks of the way, since it is grass, let the sheep enter and eat! In this way, a high-tech power station entered more than 2,000 sheep. The effect is very good, the efficiency of weeding is very high, and the sheep eat happily and are chubby. The only problem is: the sheep are always eaten in one place. Seeing that the land has a tendency to be eaten bald again, the staff has planned a route for herding sheep. The herders are invited to come to the photovoltaic power station for herding sheep. The herders manually weed the weeds, and the salary is extra.

Well, originally this place was just a high-tech photovoltaic power station. As a result, problems occurred, the solutions were solved, and the solutions brought new problems. Then the problems were solved, desertification was improved by the way, the local breeding business was developed, and it was returned to herdsmen. Helped the poor, with four birds with one stone.

So you see, as I said before, if you want to solve the problem, don't forget, the resources may be by your side.

The next story comes from a classmate we got from the fifth phase of the Chengdu campus of the University. His name is Cai Ping. A few years ago, he was a border policeman on the border between China and Nepal. The Yare border police station where he is located has only 13 people, but it manages an area the size of more than 67,000 football fields. The border police have to perform official duties and stop smuggling, smuggling, and crossing the border. In such a sparsely populated area, it would be impossible without the help of local herders.

How to unite the herdsmen? Persuading door to door? Engage in incentive policies? Not to mention that the cultural gap is very serious, and the two sides are not even able to communicate with each other.

then what should we do? The method of the border police turned out to be to plant trees! A group of border policemen tried their best to plant two trees on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau.

You might be thinking, what's so great about planting two trees? But you think, it’s on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau at an altitude of 5,300 meters. It is full of permafrost. Many herders have never seen a tree for generations.
Insert picture description here
In order to plant live trees, they have to transport the soil from hundreds of kilometers away, keep them warm throughout the year, care for the saplings like a child, and test the tree species repeatedly. This kind of tree has failed in four or five years. Trees often live in summer and die in winter. Finally, in the summer of the fifth year, they discovered that among the many saplings planted, two alpine willows planted in Zadong Temple were not dead!

Zhadong Temple is the only way to go to the Alishan Mountain to worship. The common people now see these two trees as soon as they enter the temple.

For the local herdsmen, this is a miracle. These border police have done an impossible thing. People who can achieve miracles in their lives, of course, have prestige.

Soon after the tree species survived, herders began to voluntarily join the border police's protective team. Together, the police and civilians cracked many cases of illegal border crossing and smuggling.

You will find that, as the investor Schwarzman said: "People in trouble often only focus on their own problems, and the way to solve problems usually lies in how you solve other people's problems."

You solve the problems of the people around you, and they become your resources for solving your own problems.
Insert picture description here
With this idea in mind, we have done something quite proud of us in the past few years. This is the establishment of a university. You think, if you are a clerk, you are usually immersed in solving your own problems. If you encounter a problem and cannot solve it by yourself, what should you do? Can you find a school or a teacher in the world to teach you a standardized course and solve your problem? impossible.

then what should we do? The way to get a university is not to look for answers from afar, but to find doers from all walks of life in this city, let these doers get together, contribute to each other's problems, and solve each other's solutions.

Please note that getting a university is not a club for a small group of successful people. It is a community of people who are working, and it brings together people who are doing things in this society. Its biggest feature is the diversity of classmates. In your class, there is a high probability that you will meet such classmates: civil servants, teachers, engineers, scientists, artists, actors, entrepreneurs, designers, doctors, lawyers, etc. They come from all walks of life, and their average age is 35 years old, which is exactly when they were working.

As of today, Get University has gathered 9,300 alumni for you. Come, people who want to join this community, open the App now to sign up to join, join this problem-solving network, and become a member of this community of doers.

Get the university, the club of lifelong learners welcomes you.

In the three stories I just told, have you found anything in common?

Yes, these three innovative stories have a common core: do not go far.

Our generation is often accustomed to looking far away, making a grand plan, and then using massive resources in all directions to create a miracle. However, in 2020, an epidemic is coming, forcing us to turn our attention back to us. This year, we spent more time with our family, and spent more time trying to solve problems in a community. We found that the original stadium can be turned into a square cabin, and the original automobile factory can produce masks. The original problem-solving resources are all around.

This may be a perspective that will only be available "when I grow up."

The responsibility of adults is that no matter how limited resources are, the problems before them must be resolved. Everyone knows that in the adult world, there is no easy word.

In this year's book "Variables: Survival Strategies in the Native Age", Mr. He Fan has a particularly interesting reminder that when you are really ready to solve a problem, you should think of yourself as a "Transformer."

That's right, when the challenge appears clearly, you will be pleasantly surprised to find that you are a "Transformers", and the resources are near you, or even on your body. The deformation of resources can be unlimited. The innovation space of resources is infinite.
