[Thinking about test] Test six stages of test danwei

1 Introduction

After more than three years of testing, where is the way out for Changsi testing? It is often questioned that the ceiling of the test is within reach. Admittedly, is this really the case? Does it often float in my mind...

Low test threshold?

No money for testing?

The test ceiling is too low?

Is the test optional?

Does the test have no technical content?

......

In the past, I often questioned the long road in life, and the future is still worrying, but now I increasingly feel that the road to test technology accumulation is long, and testing is a long-term accumulation . In addition to developing in the direction of test management (less opportunities), testers also need to learn a lot in the direction of test technology. For example, automated testing, performance testing, system testing solutions, etc., each test segment is a bottomless pit. To be recognized as a test technology leader, you need to be persistent and self-driven.

If you question the sound of confusion like I did before, it is probably because you are already in the environment of boiling frogs in warm water, you have less goals for struggle, and less self-driven learning.....

2 Topic

Recently, I was reading the book "The Way of Test Architects". The book summarizes the advanced process of test engineers as "six stages of testing", which is more interesting. I summarized these six paragraphs and abstracted out the following fishbone diagram for all fellow brothers and sisters to appreciate:

Test section : Able to execute test cases according to the description steps of the test cases, can find product problems by comparing the expected results of the use cases, and can clearly and accurately record the problems and feed them back to the development, and the development can read the meaning of the problem description;

The second stage of the test : Have a certain understanding of product requirements, be able to analyze and design product test cases according to product requirements, and be able to conduct preliminary positioning after discovering problems;

Test three phases : Have a deeper understanding of product requirements and implementation, pay attention to the effectiveness of use cases when designing use cases, and consider using automated testing and other methods to improve the efficiency of test execution when testing use cases;

Four stages of testing : Deeply understand product requirements and implementation, understand product quality, understand product hidden requirements, test product performance, reliability, ease of use and other non-functional attributes, and master the test methods. Use test defect analysis technology to evaluate product quality;

Test five stages : continuously pursue the most suitable product testing technology, pay attention to the improvement of the testing process, and promote the progress of product testing technology;

Six stages of testing : Going to the front, that is, testing is moved to the left infinitely, for defect prevention, the test method can be standardized and output, and solidified into test tools and processes.

I believe that for most test engineers, with the accumulation of work experience, there is no problem in reaching the first three stages. But the cultivation of the last three stages requires a long-term process of technology accumulation, which cannot be achieved overnight. Frozen three feet, not a day’s cold, the road to test technology is actually very long...
