Cloud native has become the most popular technology topic in the cloud computing field. Github has more than 7,000 cloudnative open source projects, and the CSDN website can search for 70,000 technical information about cloud native. Following the release of the cloud native 2.0 strategy in September, recently, Huawei Cloud and Forrester jointly released a cloud native white paper and shared Huawei's own cloud native practices. In the eyes of Huawei Cloud CTO Zhang Yuxin, cloud native has entered the deep water zone, and Huawei has completed the transformation of cloud native. The next step is to help Huawei's customers such as finance and automobile realize cloud native technology.

White paper: Cloud native large-scale applications are still in their infancy

First of all, the white paper survey found that enterprises' perception of cloud native technology has changed:

  • In terms of deployment environment, 77% believe that the deployment and operating environment of cloud native technology has evolved from a single cloud environment to a hybrid cloud multi-cloud environment (multiple public cloud environments, multiple private cloud environments, or a hybrid of different public and private cloud environments) ;

  • The capability coverage of cloud native technology extends from focusing on the infrastructure level (container cluster management, container orchestration, etc.) to the cloud native application level (microservice framework support, service grid support, etc.) (82%);

  • The focus of cloud native technology has expanded from cloud computing technology itself to other technology systems, such as big data, machine learning and other emerging technologies (80%).

Although cloud native has gotten initial development in China and has gained the attention of enterprises and developers, for more industries and enterprises, large-scale applications are still in their infancy:

  • The previous generation of cloud-native technology platforms often failed to meet the needs of enterprises, requiring enterprises to invest a lot of effort in self-research and component integration;
  • Except for some Internet companies, for more companies, cloud-native technology is more difficult and costly to learn. For traditional industries with weak R&D capabilities, it is difficult to achieve large-scale applications in a short period of time;
  • Internet, financial and other pioneering companies' demands for cloud native no longer satisfy basic operation and maintenance and R&D efficiency improvement. From the perspective of core business, more requirements for cloud native are put forward.

The white paper believes that cloud native is the foundation of enterprises' digital transformation, and enterprises need to establish a cloud native priority strategy and build an integrated full-stack cloud native platform.

Finally, the strategic recommendations given in the cloud native white paper objectively point out: On the one hand, cloud native technology is in a rapid evolution and development stage, and the maturity of many open source components themselves is uneven, and it is functional and stable with enterprise-level platforms running mission-critical systems There is a significant gap in the requirements for performance and reliability.

On the other hand, compared with the early cloud computing technology based on virtual machines and traditional service-oriented architecture, cloud native technology itself is used in various fields such as application architecture, development, testing and deployment process, application reconstruction and migration path, and system operation and maintenance. Both have higher technical and management complexity.

Huawei Cloud Native "Family Bucket": Full Stack Cloud Native Platform

Huawei has an early start advantage in the cloud native field. Since 2015, Huawei has jointly established the Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF) with many companies around the world, which is the number one K8s community code contribution in Asia, with a total of 41,000+PRs submitted. Huawei Cloud products have now covered many cloud-native technology fields, such as containers, microservices, service grids, and so on.

Huawei is very clear about cloud native and its own advantages. In Zhang Yuxin’s view, cloud native has two perspectives, vertical and horizontal. The vertical cloud native full-stack technology is optimized. Huawei's DynaSky architecture and software and hardware collaboration can extend cloud native technology to full-stack software and hardware collaboration, and improve resources The utilization rate is extremely high.

Horizontally, as a major domestic manufacturer, Huawei can support the development of a variety of new business formats. Based on a unified architecture, it can create a full-scenario, cloud-native, cloud-native through the unified architecture of the public cloud, hybrid cloud, and edge cloud. ability. Huawei defines itself as a traditional enterprise and uses its own cloud native transformation as an example to reveal: Huawei Consumer Cloud provides resource acquisition and elastic scaling capabilities for 670 million+ users and 1.8 million+ developers in more than 200 countries and regions around the world. 15 Ten thousand + hosts and 1000P + storage have become "super-large-scale cloud native applications".
