Some unpopular apps worth recommending on Mac

A summary of some useful software for the macos platform. Although some of them cannot be found on the Mac App Store, they are still worth installing. Most of them I use every day.

Amphetamine

Annoying computers may not exist. Mac is no exception. As we all know, every time the lid is closed, Apple’s laptop will automatically enter sleep mode. If you prefer an external monitor instead of the laptop’s own screen, this may cause great inconvenience.

Amphetamine allows you to continue to use your Mac when it is closed. I prefer the UI function provided by Amphitamine, which not only can be used naturally with other menu bar items, but also supports hotkey commands, deactivation of reminders, not to mention no annoying ads.

Hyperdock

Starting from Windows 7, applications can capture the edge of the screen, but until OSXE1 Capitan, Apple did not provide a similar solution. More importantly, even so, it still lacks the comprehensiveness of Microsoft's alternative products. In order to solve this problem, Hyperdock provides the complete functionality we desperately desire.

You only need to drag the window to the right or left of the monitor, and it will automatically capture to fill half of the screen. For the Dock, hovering the mouse over the application can activate the thumbnail preview function, which provides a brief description of the window, and can be clicked to open or close the application, which is very useful.

Duet Display

If you feel painful working on a monitor, but are hesitant to expensive (and huge) Q portable monitors, Duet Display will be the perfect solution. This software was developed by a former Apple engineer and works by connecting the iPad to Qad with a Lightning cable and launching this application on both devices.

Then, you can drag programs and windows onto the iPad just like using a second monitor, and you can enjoy all the benefits of Retina pixels.

Microsoft To-Do

A simple application, the selling point of Microsoft To Do is its cross-device function, which can be used on Mac, Windows, Android, and 0 platforms. It can synchronize the to-do list regardless of whether the continuous interoperability function of macos is used.

After the list starts, you can schedule reminders, add notes, and use widgets to embed them in the macs notification center.

Onecastimage

Sometimes, you want to play Xbox One, but conditions may not allow it. If you only have a Mac, you may need to reverse engineer the third-party application Onecast, which can stream Xbox One games to macos. The whole process only needs to Connect both Mac and Xbox One to the same network, and then log in to Xbox Live.

According to experience, the working principle of Onecast is very attractive, but in order to get a smooth gaming experience, you should connect both systems to the router via wired as much as possible.

Microsoft Remote Desktop

If you need to manage a large number of devices, it is important to be able to diagnose the problem remotely. Fortunately, Microsoft provides a solution for this.

Using Microsoft Remote Desktop, you will get officially supported applications. As long as you are a network administrator or authorized user, you can remotely access any Windows computer on the network. The initial setup may be a bit cumbersome. Once you start, you can access/transfer files, copy/paste on two computers, and even run the game once. However, we do not recommend you to do this.

Unclutter

Due to the many programs to be installed, the desktop is often messy. Although macos Mojave has brought Stacks to the Mac to make everything neater, Unclutter goes one step further by keeping everything in one place instead of spreading it out in multiple folders.

You can configure it to work with gesture controls. At any given point, you can use two fingers of the touchpad (or one finger of a mouse) to slide down from the top of the screen to display three windows, and then anytime Hide or re-summon them
