When running the screen saver on a Mac equipped with an Apple M1 chip, the screen saver cannot be cancelled and cannot be locked from the Mac until it is restarted.
Problem Description:
1. I just bought the benchmark M1 MacBook AI r, but the screen saver cannot take over the computer. Even when the device is in use, the screen saver will still start, so the screen saver cannot be turned off. I must switch users, log off, and/or restart the computer to make the screen saver disappear.
2. Does anyone else on M1 Mac and/or Big Sur have problems turning on the screensaver and locking the computer every 20 minutes? Disabling the screen saver completely in "Settings" does not solve the problem.
Solution:
I actually tried it on a MacBook Pro equipped with an Apple M1 chip. Although the screen saver can only run for a few minutes, but after tens of minutes of use, it can’t be canceled, so it seems that the password is locked when canceling the screen saver. The start time is related.
This problem occurs with any type of screen saver, and if you are locked and cannot display the desktop even after repeatedly logging in/logging out, it seems that the only solution is to forcibly shut down and restart the Mac, so it is equipped with an Apple M1 chip. If this problem occurs on your Mac, we recommend that you turn off the screen saver or turn off/sleep the display, which will start faster than starting the screen saver.
