At present (2019/07/10) the official strongly recommends downloading and installing GitLab Enterprise Edition, even if you are not sure whether you will purchase a GitLab Enterprise Edition license in the future. Because even if you do not purchase a license, you will automatically return to the community version after the trial period, and you can use all the features of the community version, and it will bring two benefits:
If you return to the community edition after the trial period, it will be very convenient to upgrade to the enterprise edition. However, if you install the community edition directly and want to upgrade to the enterprise edition, you may need to stop the machine and it will be more troublesome.
If you want to use the enterprise version, you must purchase a license, otherwise you can only use the functions under the MIT license. If you have not purchased the exclusive license feature, after the trial period, there is no difference from the community version.
