Yunhe Enmo: 2020 is the beginning of the rise of domestic databases

This is the best time for DBA

The past decade has been a golden age for China's economy and the Internet to take off. The database, as one of the core basic software, plays a vital role in the development of IT information industry. In recent years, with the rapid development of emerging technologies such as cloud computing, big data and artificial intelligence, cloud databases with cloud computing flexibility, open source data ease of use, and openness have the advantages of traditional database management and processing performance. , Has become the best choice for the entire industry to fully cloud data.

According to Gartner estimates, by 2021, cloud databases will account for 50% of the entire database market for the first time; and by 2023, 75% of databases will be built on cloud platforms, and cloud databases have become a future industry trend .

At the just-concluded 2020 Data Technology Carnival, a hundred domestic database companies contended, and the domestic database industry is ushering in an excellent opportunity for growth and development. As the organizer of the conference, Yunhe Enmo CEO Gai Guoqiang said in his opening speech: “Self-developed databases occupy an increasingly important position in the Chinese market, and domestic databases are also on the international stage. Under the guidance of infrastructure policies, we ushered in the best era for database practitioners!"

China's database power will promote global development

Gai Guoqiang pointed out that since its inception, databases have gone through three development eras: the commercial database era represented by Oracle, the open source database era represented by MySQL, and the cloud database era today. The latter is also known as the new database era. . In the past ten years, domestic databases have stepped onto the stage of history from the obscurity of the past, and will give back to the international community and promote the vigorous development of global database technology.

So what development trend will the domestic database technology show in the future? Gai Guoqiang believes that there will be two major trends for domestic databases in the future, namely, cloud native and distributed. Among them, distributed is driven by user needs, and user needs are massive high-concurrency application scenarios. This is an Internet-style application innovation. Under this drive, technologies to solve massive concurrency and peak traffic have emerged. And some mature database products, such as Oracle database, have also gone through the whole process from stand-alone, cluster to distributed, and the technological evolution of Oracle database is always worthy of our study and reference.

So in the current Oracle, MySQL, and various open source and domestic databases, how should users choose?

Gai Guoqiang believes that users should choose the most dynamic technology ecology. There are a wide range of Oracle DBA groups in China, as well as the most extensive PostgreSQL kernel developers. The Ingres project started by Professor Michael Stonebraker has the most extensive technical influence in the database field. Many database products are derived from PostgreSQL. There is never a shortage of kernel personnel.

In fact, there are Chinese at the source of PostgreSQL. As early as 1980, Dr. Wang Youzeng and Professor Michael Stonebraker co-founded Ingres, and in 1988, he won the ACM Software System Award for his achievements in the database field. Therefore, Gai Guoqiang believes: "Enterprises have national boundaries, but codes have no national boundaries. The technology ecology developed by Ingres is very rich and has a long history in China and the world. China's database power will definitely play an increasingly important role in the world. Role."

Ten years of Yunhe Enmo and ecological reform and innovation

Gai Guoqiang was once dubbed the master of the database field by the younger generation. Ten years ago, Gai Guoqiang and several friends he met in the operation and maintenance community founded Yunhe Enmo. In a blink of an eye, the company has gone through ten years. Talking about the company's entrepreneurial history, Gai Guoqiang couldn't help feeling full of emotions.

As a pioneer in the field of domestic database ecology, Yunhe Enmo has built a nationwide service network and ecological products, and is committed to letting users use databases with greater confidence. In the past ten years, from the initial stage to the solid growth stage, Yun and Enmo have always maintained a continuous growth rate of about 30% per year. This is also the achievement that Gai Guoqiang and his colleagues are most proud of.

This year, based on Huawei’s openGauss open source database, Yunhe Enmo invested a lot of core R&D and tool product research and development efforts, and launched an enterprise-level database product-MogDB, focusing on user needs and solving core problems. Yunhe Enmo is committed to creating the easiest The openGauss commercial release used to help enterprises transform and upgrade their databases. This is an attempt by Yunhe Enmo in open source, and it is also an investment in the construction of a database ecosystem that it has put into practice.

With the rise of domestic databases, multiple databases have continuously entered the corporate environment, which once again confirms that Yun and Enmo chose the right direction. In the face of diversified emerging databases, Cloud and Enmo believe that management capabilities should be established first, and then new database varieties should be launched. Automation and intelligent support are indispensable. Cloud and Enmo’s zCloud is the unified management of multiple databases. Realize the database middle office of database management and build an enterprise-level dbPaaS platform to help users simplify the work in the change cycle to a greater extent.

When Quwei Technology asked about the future development direction of Yunhe Enmo, Gai Guoqiang revealed that in the future under the era of new infrastructure and localization, Yunhe Enmo will work together with domestic ecology to practice the "China create".

"Created in China can be a product or a service. We hope that the full stack created in China has no dead ends. In the past, we positioned the company as an end-to-end data asset solution provider. Now we have our own database. A series of ecological software has been derived from the database, and investment in data intelligence has begun. In the next ten years, I hope that Cloud and Enmo can organically combine these embryonic company forms, develop collaboratively, and innovate independently in the new infrastructure. Under the wave, achieving breakthroughs in independent innovation has become a more important part of China’s database ecology. It can grow together with ecological partners and achieve end-to-end self-sufficiency and help more users provide full-stack solutions. This is also a cloud He Enmo's vision for the next ten years." said Guoqiang Gai.
