Uplink physical channel

PUSCH : Physical UplinkShared Channel /  Uplink shared physical channel

    Used to carry uplink user data

PUCCH : Physical UplinkControl Channel /  Uplink Control Physical Channel

    Used for L1/L2 control signaling such as HARQ feedback, CQI feedback, scheduling request indication, etc.

PRACH : Physical RandomAccess Channel/  Random Access Channel

    Used for user random access request information

Uplink physical signal

The RS-the DM : Demodulationreference Signals /  demodulation reference signal

    Used for uplink data demodulation, time-frequency synchronization, etc.

The RS-the PT : Phase-trackingreference Signals /  phase tracking reference signal

    Used for uplink phase noise tracking and compensation

The SRS : the Sounding Reference Signal /  sounding reference signal

    Used for uplink channel measurement, time-frequency synchronization, beam management

Antenna port resource range

[0 , 1000)  : used for PUSCH and related demodulation reference signals

[1000,2000) : for SRS

[2000,4000) : for PUCCH

[4000,4000] : for PRACH


Downlink physical channel

PDSCH : Physical DownlinkShared Channel /  Downlink shared physical channel

    Used to carry downlink user data

PBCH : Physical BroadcastChannel /  Broadcast physical channel

    Used to carry system broadcast messages

PDCCH : Physical DownlinkControl Channel /  Downlink Control Physical Channel

    Used for transmission of control signaling such as uplink and downlink scheduling and power control

Downlink physical signal

The RS-the DM : Demodulationreference Signals /  demodulation reference signal

    Used for downlink data demodulation, time-frequency synchronization

The RS-the PT : Phase-trackingreference Signals /  phase tracking reference signal

    Used for downlink phase noise tracking and compensation

CSI-RS : Channel-stateinformation reference signal/  channel state information reference signal

    Used for downlink channel measurement, beam management, RRM/RLM measurement and refined time-frequency tracking, etc.

The PSS : Primarysynchronization Signal / primary synchronization signal

    Time domain synchronization, get cell ID (NID2)

SSS : Secondarysynchronization signal /  Secondary synchronization signal

    Frequency domain synchronization and simultaneous acquisition of cell group ID (NID1)

Antenna port resource range

[1000,2000) : for PSDCH

[2000,3000) : used for PDCCH

[3000,4000) : used for CSI-RS

[4000, infinity) : used for SS and PBCH


Compared with LTE, the 5G downlink physical channel removes the PHICH and PCFICH, removes the CRS from the reference signal, adds PT-RS, and enhances the role of DMRS and CSI-RS.
