1. From 965 to 996

The working hours of our company are basically 965, which can be said to be a clear stream in the current IT Internet industry. Many young colleagues in our team have moved to big factories such as BATMD. The big factories are generally 995 and 996.
As I said in the previous article, hopping to a big factory seems to have a lot of salary increase, but in fact the hourly salary may be lowered. Why? Maybe someone hasn't seen it before, so let's talk about it.
Suppose you have 1 hour lunch break every day, 965 works 40 hours a week, and Dachang works about 60 hours a week (995 works 55 hours, 996 works 66 hours, and the size of Douyin is 60 hours). Working hours have increased by 50%. If the wage increase is less than 50%, does the hourly wage decrease?
In addition, I have experienced 996 work. Therefore, when a colleague applied for resignation before, I usually talked to them once and asked them if they were so tired that they had no spare time. I would also count with them. Calculate the hourly salary above and remind them to invest time in themselves and don't blindly sell time to the company.
The reaction of most people is this:

  • I really haven't thought about the hourly salary...Well, although the hourly salary is low, but if I don't sell my time to the company, I am probably wasting my time on Douyin and King Glory.
  • For the sake of the salary increase, Dachang is tired and bears it. Now the rent is getting more and more expensive, and the salary can't be saved. Moreover, in a few years, the old age will be older, and the big factory will no longer need it.
  • After going to a big factory, you can meet more outstanding people, can do bigger projects, and you can become stronger. These will be needed after you leave the big factory in the future.
    I mistakenly thought that young people had little experience and didn't know the squeeze of big factories. I mistakenly thought that they only saw wages. In fact, most people know very well what they will lose and gain when they go to big factories. They are very sober.
    Moreover, the cost of living is getting higher and higher, and life is not easy, so getting more wages is also the most practical.

    2. Return to Chengdu from Beijing

Let's talk about the resignation of a young colleague. Last year, a developer who had worked for 4 years proposed to leave and wanted to return to his hometown of Chengdu.
This young developer is very good, how good is it? Almost every month in the team evaluation, he will be rated as one of the top 10% of the team.
Therefore, when this brother proposed to resign, I tried every means to stay, but in the end I didn't keep it. He considers this:

  • Beijing housing prices are too expensive, and wages are too low compared to housing prices. In addition to high housing prices, rents also increase every year.
  • Seeing that they are approaching the age of marriage, and after calculating with their girlfriends, both of them are of average family background. They can only make up the down payment without eating or drinking. They can only buy very remote or very small houses.
  • Even if housing prices stop rising and the down payment is settled, you will still face the pressure of repaying the loan in the future. The difficulties for children to settle down and go to school in the future are too big to think about.
  • The IT industry in Chengdu is okay. Many big factories have already set up locations in Chengdu. You should not worry about finding a job. And I have saved some money in Beijing for a few years, and I can pay down payment for the house in Chengdu.
    Yes, if there is a mine at home, who doesn't want to stay in a big city, who doesn't know that big cities have many job opportunities and high incomes, who doesn't know that big cities have concentrated medical and education resources.
    The house price is indeed too high now, think about myself, that is, I was lucky, I went to work early, and got in the car when the house price was not so abnormal.
    Therefore, when you see young people go back to their hometowns to develop, you don’t have to label them "escape from first-tier cities". "Escape" is a derogatory term, which does not sound good. In fact, it may be forced by helplessness.
    Moreover, the Internet environment in cities such as Chengdu and Xi'an is getting better and better. Behind the second and third-tier cities, it may be that young people have chosen another way of fighting.

    3. The young owner

I am now writing official accounts in my spare time, and in the process, I have met several account owners who are very chatty.
When I first met them, from their official account article, I thought they were all experienced programmers. After I asked, I found out that most of them were working within three years, and some were even interns.
But in terms of the quality and speed of their updated articles, the number of their fans, and the speed of their fans, they are much better than me.
I can't imagine that a programmer-like official account made by an intern can actually have 100,000 readers. I was a little skeptical of life. Why are you so good, can you still write happily together?
Let me say one more thing. I spent 965 yuan this year to join the wealth-making knowledge planet, and then looked at hundreds of money-making cases accumulated over three or four years. Don't think too much, those who don't step on the line are serious ways to make money.
While lamenting that there are so many cows, I found that many people start making money from the "toss" when they were young. For example, some people have explored business opportunities in the graduation season and have not yet made the first money in their lives on campus; some people feel that the work of the institution is too idle, and they engage in e-commerce after work, and they have caught up with the bonus period. The e-commerce income exceeds the salary of work. Several times.
Therefore, when it comes to the workplace, middle-aged people may have advantages in experience and position. But now there are a lot of opportunities outside the workplace: official accounts, Douyin, B stations, communities, etc. In these fields, middle-aged people may not necessarily be the opponents of young people. Young people are curious and easy to accept new things; young people are energetic and do not worry too much, just roll up their sleeves.
Here is also a reminder for young people. Although the income from slash youth and sideline business is very attractive, don't take up the main business time when doing sideline business, especially if your main business has a lot of room for improvement, don't lose watermelon and pick sesame seeds.
In addition, pay attention to your mentality, don't imagine quick success, more it requires continuous effort. Like some of our account owners, while complaining about the difficulty of writing and increasing fans, they insisted on spending their spare time tired and working hard like their grandson.

4. Create opportunities for young people

In the company, the higher the position, the fewer positions, and the pits on the top are often occupied by people who come to the company first.
If the company does not experience a wave of expansion, the number of pits above will not increase significantly.
Therefore, the number of pits is scarce, coupled with the fact that the elderly occupy the pits, the young people below tend to think that promotion is more about seniority and will put a big question mark on the results of hard work.
When middle-aged people who have successfully gotten a position in the workplace say that young people are "not enterprising", can we first ask ourselves if we provide young people with the conditions for "thinking enterprising":

  • Is the team already old-fashioned?
  • Has the team's pits solidified?
  • Is there a phenomenon of old people occupying the hole and not working?
  • Is the team based on seniority?
    This is also a question I often think about. As a manager, I should not get old first. I should always take the initiative to throw out some things to let young people toss and create some opportunities for them to prove themselves.
    I admit that no matter whether it is young or middle-aged, outstanding people are a minority, but they cannot be ignored just because there are few people.
    I am not afraid that there are no outstanding people in the team, and there is no one to recruit. After the most fearful people come in, they see no opportunity or hope, and slowly become mediocre people in the team.
