10.0.0.0 - 10.255.255.255
172.16.0.0 - 172.16.255.255
192.168.0.0 - 192.168.255.255 

So what is the difference between these three private addresses?

The only difference between these three types of private addresses is that they belong to different levels .

For the beginning of 10: A type address. Subnet mask: 255.0.0.0

For the beginning of 172.16: it is a class B address. Subnet mask: 255.255.0.0

For the beginning of 192.168: it is a class C address. Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0

Understanding of private addresses

The private address can only be used in the local area network and cannot be placed on the public network for communication. If you want to access a certain URL in the public network, then perform NAT conversion to convert the private address level by level to the public network address. .

For each type of private address, it will finally be converted into a corresponding public IP address of the same type.

Example: The private IP address is: 10.114.104.176. When converted to access the Internet, it must be a public address starting with 10

 

 

For schools, generally they apply for a class A address. Because this class A address is a public network address, this class A address forms a local area network. Then in this local area network, you can use the subnet mask to divide the addresses in this local area network.

For example, after applying for an IP address from a school, this IP address is a private address of a class A address, so the school's IP address usually starts with 10, but the subnet mask is not the subnet mask of the class A address. Subnet mask of class B or C address.
