[Operation and Maintenance Interview] Interviewer: How is your Alibaba Cloud maintained?

Preface

Because many small partners have experience in cloud servers, there are several problems that may be encountered when interviewing for system operation and maintenance:

  1. Which Alibaba Cloud products have you used?
  2. What cloud server maintenance do you usually do?

Today we will discuss these two issues

1. What products of cloud services have you used?

There are many cloud servers: such as Alibaba Cloud, Tencent Cloud, Huawei Cloud, ucloud, Qingyun, Amazon Cloud, and a more interesting name: Tongfang has a cloud, for fear that others do not know that they have a cloud server.

Each cloud server has its own product, or a product with the same function but a different name. Just like APP, Ctrip's is called Ctrip Travel, and Ali's is called Fliggy Travel.

The same goes for cloud servers. Let’s take Ali’s as an example. You can answer this way:

Speaking of cloud servers, our company mainly uses Alibaba Cloud. The products used are: OSS, SLB, CDN, ECS, RDS and other products.

What we commonly use:
SLB: Layer 4 and Layer 7 load balancing based on LVS and tegine, capable of dynamic expansion.
RDS: We use the mysql5.7 version, the high-availability version of
OSS: Mainly to provide high-availability mass storage for small data objects.
CDN: Through caching services and load balancing, user requests are sent to the most suitable area to improve The corresponding speed of service.
OAS: Offline archiving,
SLS for cold data backup : It is mainly for real-time mobile phones that solve the log in the distributed system.

At the beginning, we all built applications in ECS. Later, we pulled out the database separately and purchased RDS. The cache of the database used ocs. After the business volume increased, we used SLB. SLB only charges from the external network, and we use the internal network. 11 SLBs.
For distributed storage, we use OSS, a search engine, and provide search services for information retrieval on and off the site. We use OPEN search

The message queue is not used, but I know that there is a tool called MQS

2. What cloud server maintenance do you usually do?

The maintenance of cloud services is relatively simple, and cloud servers rely less on operation and maintenance. There are four daily tasks

  1. Server renewal, activation, configuration upgrade, and invoice request
  2. Routine maintenance of service problems;
  3. Submit work orders for unsolvable issues and platform-related issues and request assistance from Alibaba Cloud engineers.
  4. Account management, authority management, and service port management are connected with developers & testers to meet the server usage needs of relevant personnel.

Of course, there are some special problems, such as the loopholes reported by Alibaba Cloud, many of which need to be solved by purchasing Alibaba Cloud services, or some Alibaba provides solutions that can be tried to solve.

to sum up

Now some companies are using Amazon cloud, which is relatively safer. If you choose a node in Japan, there is no delay in domestic access. But the price is slightly more expensive. You can apply for a year to play for free, and consider paying in the future.

Regarding the maintenance of Alibaba Cloud, I think one development can be done. Many companies recruit an O&M, but they are actually responsible for maintaining the cloud server. They live a life of going to work, reading newspapers and drinking tea.
