Sometimes, phone numbers are given with some English letters at the end of the number.
For Example, 1-866-310-TIPS becomes 1-866-310-8477.
This is especially true with business numbers and some government numbers.
Remember that number keys 2 through 9 on telephones also have several letters of the alphabet printed on them.
To dial a phone number that has been given as letters, just look at the telephone keypad and find the number key that corresponds to the letter.
1-866 -310-TIPS
905-234-BLUE
409-456-BELL
Sometimes the last four digits of the phone number are not numbers but four uppercase English letters.
For example, 1-866-310-TIPS, which is actually 1-866-310-8477.
This notation is mostly used for business phones and work phones in government departments.
The uppercase English letters arranged in alphabetical order are printed on the numeric keys 2-9 on the telephone keypad.
Dial a phone with letters, look at the keyboard, and find the number keys corresponding to the letters.
For example 1-866-310-TIPS = 1-866-310-8477
905-234-BLUE = 905-234-2583
409-456-BELL = 409-456-2355
