Background of Web Services: Because there is a connection gap between Web applications and traditional desktop applications. People have to repeatedly migrate data from Web applications to traditional desktop applications, or from desktop applications to Web applications. Problems such as interoperability and heterogeneity of this platform have seriously affected the development of Web applications. The emergence of Web Services is just to solve the interoperability problem across applications, platforms and heterogeneous.
Concept: Web Services is a process calling technology across programming languages and across operating system platforms. Cross-programming language means that the server program is written in Java, and the client program can be written in other languages. The cross-operating system platform means that the server-side program and the client-side program can run on different operating systems.
Significance: (1) Through Web Services, different applications running on different machines can exchange data or integrate without resorting to additional, specialized third-party software and hardware. (2) Web Services is based on some conventional industry standards and existing mature technologies, such as XML to HTTP and other open Web specification technologies. Therefore, it has good openness and interoperability. (3) Web Services protocols, interfaces, and registration all work together in a loosely coupled manner, reducing the cost of application program interfaces.
