The core is divided into two parts: JS rendering engine and engine
Rendering engine (layout engineer or Rendering Engine):
responsible for rendering web pages through HTML, XML, CSS, etc., calculated the page that appears, and then output to a display or printer. (Different browser kernel, the corresponding webpage will be different grammatical interpretation, rendering will be different)
JS engine: Javascript language is resolved, javascript execution language to implement dynamic performance of your pages.
Note: the beginning JS rendering engine and the engine does not distinguish very clearly, then JS engine more and more independent, the kernel tends to refer only to the rendering engine, but common browser kernel can be divided into four: Trident (IE), Gecko (firefox), Blink (chrome), Webkit (Safari).
