Wild Architects Weekly - ⚙️ IFTTT and Zapier usage comparison, best efficiency system, 3 things with the highest input-output ratio

Welcome to the 005th issue of "Wild Architects" Weekly , this is a weekly newsletter sent by lcomplete , it shares short and practical efficiency methods, high-quality articles, programming knowledge, practical tools, etc. Thank you for reading!

IFTTT and Zapier usage comparison

Let me first introduce what IFTTT is. This is an old-fashioned automated workflow platform that can integrate different applications. When application A triggers an event, it can send information to program B for processing. IFTTT is named after its slogan " if this then that”.

What is Zapier? It can be simply understood as enhanced IFTTT, which is more powerful than the latter.

So this time brings a comparison of the use of the two, of course Zapier wins. First of all, Zapier is far more efficient in execution than IFTTT. Let's look at this simple scenario, Pocketwhich bookmarks Raindrop. When using IFTTT, the platform needs to execute one time every 1 hour, while when using Zapier, the synchronization is completed in about 2 minutes.

To Read / lcomplete , a shared bookmark automatically synced here from my pocket to discover great articles.

Zapier also provides functions such as data transfer, trying to import my tweets into the notiondatabase , which is convenient to use.

In addition, two workflows are set up: save the tweets I publish and like to the notion and form mine. Web DatabaseThe benefits of doing so are obvious. For example, when writing this newsletter, you only need to open the notion to find information.

In addition, for free users, Zapier does not have the limit of 5 workflows of IFTTT, instead of the limit of 1000 task executions per month.

If the free usage limit is exceeded, the monthly cost of Zapier is high. At this time, you can also use open source n8nto build an automated workflow system and deploy it on your own server. The cost will be lower, but the experience will be inferior. For Zapier, it is not easy to deploy and use for ordinary users who do not know programming.

For the use of n8n, you can check this article I wrote earlier.

Regarding the comparison of the use of IFTTT and Zapier, I also took the lead in sharing it on twitter. If you want to get some interesting things I shared in time, you can follow my twitter.

best efficiency system

Productivity tools don’t help you build the best productivity system. The best productivity system is to make things something you’ve wanted to do for a long time, something you’re excited about, something you want to do all the time, or something you have to do .

“Every productivity system stops working eventually and there’s nothing you can do about it… Most productivity tricks develop aversion around them. All of them lose salience. The only way to avoid encountering problems with productivity is to make the stuff you want to be doing in the long-term to be the most exciting stuff you can do at any moment in time, which is perhaps possible if you, e.g. work at a startup, but is untenable in almost every situation” – Alexey Guzey

This section was inspired by Aadit Sheth's twitter. Picked out a few things that I think have a very high ROI.

Aadit Sheth on Twitter: "10 things that I've seen have the highest ROI:"

1. Connect two people together

Connect two like-minded people and if they really fit (in business, friendship or love) they will remember you forever.

2. Write on the Internet (learning in public)

Posting your thoughts online can help you find like-minded friends, says Aadit Sheth. But I think more importantly, public learning is a good way to learn.

Public learning ( Learn In Public) is like an enhanced version of Feynman's method of learning. It is a higher standard to impart what we have learned in public.

3. Act now

Act immediately when you have an idea or inspiration, which quickly diminishes over time. Immediate action can effectively combat procrastination and can generate long-term motivation for itself.

005 In fact, I wanted to write this newsletter a few nights ago, but it was put on hold due to some things, and some inspiration for writing quickly disappeared, because this incident also deeply realized the importance of immediate action, so I The newsletter is no longer limited to 1 article a week, and act immediately when you have an idea!
