Options for immersion in different liquids

Flooding

In most situations involving water immersion, whether fresh or salt water, polyurethane integrally jacketed cable is the right choice as long as other potentially damaging chemicals are not present.
For integral polyurethane sheathed cables, the cable is welded to the glass insulated sensing element contacts and has an additional stainless steel reinforcement where the cable and sensor have a molded polyurethane strain relief.

Immersed in Oil or Chemically Active Solutions
When the sensor is immersed in oil or solutions containing potentially harmful concentrations of chemicals, the use of integral FEP jacketed cable is generally recommended.
The integral FEP jacketed sensor uses the same basic sensor body design as the polyurethane jacketed version, with a sealed, ammonia leak test body.
The integral FEP sheathed cable is highly resistant to harmful chemicals and can be immersed in water up to 60 meters deep, the same depth as CTC’s sensor wires with integral polyurethane sheathed sensors.

Other Abrasive Applications
In other situations where additional durability is required, armored FEP cable is recommended.
Integrally armored cables are manufactured using the same process as the other integral cables mentioned above and can be used in applications where abrasive materials such as sand or gravel may be present.
